I bought a 1992 Subaru SVX on Saturday. The car is WEIRD! It feels nothing like any other Subaru I've owned or driven. The styling feels more like an italian concept car than anything else. The styling is just over the top. It has a stainless exhaust (made by stebro) and it sounds like a dragon getting kicked in the d (which is an awesome sound). I would really like to drive an impreza with the 3.3L. Overall I am not sure I can get used to the funky looks but it's fun to drive and will make a great winter beater. My wife calls it the purple platypus. You can definitely feel the 3600lbs in the corners but it accelerates quickly with the 6speed (which is of course a conversion as they were all automatics worldwide) and feels very stable at 60+ mph. The cabin is very quiet when compared to an Impreza or even a Legacy too. Does anyone know what trim level this one is? Here is a picture of the shoes I like to pretend the original owner (not the dude I bought it from) wore.
:eek4:I will take all the above haha, especially the shoes. I didn't know the SVX came in different trim models, I always thought it was just the SVX.
i bet that thing is a blast to drive with the MT in there. everyone i know that has had one loved driving it. they said that it was rally comfortable a solid car. not a nimble car but a great GT car.
Yea I'm betting it drives different than any Subaru, look underneath at the oddball suspension setup in the front... No other Subaru like it.
diffenitly a lsl model cause of the suede dash/door panel insert and leather congrats!!! I have owed a few svxes and still own one and love it!! ps i had 2 svxes that same color lol
you do know that I now hate you for buying this, (because I wanted it so bad) but I glad that you got it and I can't wait to drive it.
These things. The automatic was pretty much the only thing I didn't like about that car. Weird, yes, but so am I.
LOL!!! That would be a fun car. I've read that a manual in itself transforms the car. I've also *heard* those motors take very well to boost. Same internals as any other 2.2.....:naughty:
The car actually was designed by an Italian. This guy, in fact. Congrats on the find though, having the 6-speed will make this one really nice car.
nice ride i bought one for its engine to swap into my outback wgn just trying to find a 6spd tranny for it.anything cheeky about hooking up the tranny to the engine?
I didn't do the conversion but the tranny to engine bolt pattern was all correct. The flywheel bolted on as well and the input shaft dims were no problem.
UPDATE: Added some '05 STI wheels, removed the spoiler, polished the yellowed headlights, painted the center grill light thingy black, added a CD player, fixed the speed sensitive power steering, fixed the ABS.... Just need to replace the exhaust pipes from the headers to the rear muffler section and I will be ready for winter!
Wow, lookin nice! Still haven't heard one of these in person. Bring it to the winter meet on Saturday!
get an 07 grill, seriously. makes me really miss mine, even if I was sans that sweet 6 speed. gotta love SVX's with BBS's, if my HD hadn't crashed I would've posted my white one with the goldies.
orly.... if you want to feel what an H6 is like in an Impreza, we can bring one out. It's even got an Outback tranny which is 4.111FD with gear spacing like a '07 STi 6spd 1-4.
well..nice pick....its really nice to have the 6spd in it...well when i get the new part in the car...it'll be out...i guess we'll have to test drive eachothers cars! the eg33 in the gc is pretty cool....picks up really nice! dont feel the weight of the car at all... pretty soon it'll be out....fuji will probably let you know when... dao
