So today the subaru gods, finally decided to hook me up with a 1996 Brighton coupe. Its got a 1.8 for now... So if any 2.5 rs owners want to trade hoods I would be game. Also if will be doing a rear disc swap so if someone has the equipment to do so I would be interested. I am not sure exactly what i will be doing but I can smell something exciting. No more fan boi-isms.
nice, congrats! i was actually just looking at that in autotrader today. i believe its the same one anyways. off of highway 55 somewhere
damn! i'm excited for this build. my services can be had at request you need some gold wrx wheels for that thing
'96's are the best. <- '96 coupe for the fun car. The rear disc swap is pretty easy, if you need tools or help there are a lot of people on here that I'm sure would lend a hand (including myself). A 2.5RS hood won't fit right on the '96. You would need different headlights and a grill for it to fit correctly.
^ The hood "will" fit with the 96 headlights but not the grille. My friend Jeff is doing that now on his 97. The headlights dont line up perfect but it works.
yeah i payed 1900 a little higher then i wanted but well worth it to get the brighton coupe, yeah tim wants me to do a high comp n/a motor I want to do a ej22t swap but i will see right now i want to focus on suspension and getting the body fixed. Also there is the weird tick coming from the block erik you said it was the valve lashes needing adjustment any words of how to fix this? Also in regards to doing the hood swap i was planing on doing a light swap anyway would the pink 'I' grill work with that hood?
first of all, its eriK- hes anal about this. I think suspension would be a good thing to start with, also there are a bunch of people that have boosted thier n/a engines with great success. erik and brian for example. if you really want to turbo it, I would just hook you up with my 22t rods and pistons, and we can slap them in a n/a 22 and you will have yourself a pretty stout engine worthy of about 250whp. my only concern for you would be the realistic aspect of: where would you do it and what would you drive while the build is underway. you know I will help you, but you know you are on your own as far as finding a place.
it sounds like a rod, but its coming from the left bank of cylinders which leads me to believe its the valve lash adj
That's exactly what I was referring to. If you run a hood like this make sure you have the hood height adjusted well as slamming a '97-'01 hood on '96 headlights can crack them.
so am gonna need new lights and a new grille to run a 2.5rs hood(just want to verify my shopping list)
I have a green and pink I-grill for that front end. IF you don't mind waiting till fall (that's when I get my stuff out of storage)
