alright i have gone through a couple of ideas this year and tell you what, my mind is very dangerous when i let it get to thinking about stuff  as everyone knows i just sold off my old wrx swap and heres the newest plans. I purchased a rear end damaged 02 wrx 75k, i am just waiting for the trucking company to pick it up and deliver it to me, hopefully i will have it in a couple weeks. i am swapping over the complete drivetrain, dash, center console, pretty much everything but the seats. i am going to put on every possible thing from the wrx that will fit on my car. so i will be taking lots of pics and documenting everything that i do on the swap. and this means i will be looking for parts of course, i am leaning toward ap right now but i have some time to decide. here are some pics of my poor heartless car
im pretty excited to see how this turns out.ive been thinking around these same lines minus the dash swap. good luck.
yep, when's your stuff supposed to get here? i know i'm getting impatient and my car hasn't even been down for a month, lol:laugh:
i'll be getting all the wiring and dash/etc in the next week probably. i hop the dash isnt going to be to much of a biotch.
And AEM doesnt have a cold start mode built into the program, so trying to get it started in the winter is going to take a lot of fussing.
Hmmm, I guess I haven't looked into the AEM that much. I like my Link Plus, its got all that stuff like cold start, crank, post start, and warm-up enrichments. I guess I assumed the AEM would.
i'm pretty sure i'll either go ap or the open ecu way. p.s. car shippers suck!!! it sucks living in the middle of nowhere trying to get the car here by the 13th but not sure if it'll happen
^ i was going to paint it but i did half of the engine bay by using fine sandpaper and wetsanding, and it turned out pretty damn good, so i'm gonna finish the rest and throw up some pics
well not as good as painting but it's plenty good for me since my car is far from a show car, lol  and all of the sound deadening inside the car is removed
My car is definitely not show either, I painted to keep the rust at bay, and so it's easier to track any leaks. But your car is white, so i guess thats pretty easy..
well now i'm done with my piddly stuff before my car gets here, got the sound deadening gone and just decided to throw on some paint just to seal things up( yes i lol'd at the two tone but i didn't have enough paint of one color)
well hit a bump in my road today, when the shippers went to pick up my donor car they got there and said they didn't want to ship it because of too many ''loose parts" so i need to find another car. which i hopefully did, i have one going up for auction on thursday that i'm trying to get. on a better note i got some goods today and i will be getting some more later on this week
the shell has some pretty bad frame damage to the rear, so it's not much good. ummm no you can't have my crossmember, cause i kinda need it  and i think you are copying me fuji:biggrin: i've had this plan for a couple months it's just been a pain in the ass to get a car lined up.
well i can definitely say the dash swap will be the most time consuming, the a/c lines and heater core lines go through the firewall in diff spots, as well as the dash support bar has diff bolt locations, nothing a drill and a sawzall can't fix
this weather sucks!!!!! i swear i've lost like 10lbs. working on my car and i don't have much weight to spare:biggrin: anywho made a little progress before i got too damn hot, rear diff and axles are out, radiator and condensor out, driveshaft out, gas tank drained. and if it cools off later today i'm planning on pulling the motor out, then it needs a new t-belt. hopefully i will have everything buttoned up in about 2 weeks, cause i want to drive my car again
My harnes come next week. I win! lolz.... I still have to finish porting my WRX heads and the TGVs. Then swap over the shortblock....put things together.....etc.... simple thing really..
alright got some stuff done over the weekend, motor and tranny are out of the wrx and ready for my car, got both crossmembers switched over to my car along with the brakes, now comes the wiring :eek3: hooray!
ohhh i love the wiring, the whole harness is out and is laying in my car, i have tomm off and i will hopefully be making some good progress.
well the entire wrx harness is in my car an all laid out, it just needs to be spliced in at a few places. also fitted in the wrx blower motor and hvac stuff. bolted in the wrx dash support and test fitted the dash, it will pinch a bit on the door panels but it will be ok. got stuck there since i couldn't get the steering column in by myself. and did a few other small things.
well i got it started tonight and it was running good until i noticed of of my hard fuel lines had a pin hole in it, i have no idea where it came from. so tomm night i will be stealing the hard lines from the wrx and switching them over. i am hoping to be driving it by the end of the weekend
pics are here, everything is crude right now, i just want the basics hooked up so i could get it running and make sure it was working properly. i still have to splice in the brake lights, headlights, speakers, power mirrors, and a few other things. and then i can put the interior back in. i can't wait to drive it again:yumyum:
of course!! this is already the second complete swap i have done in this car(well i'm not done with this yet). but yeah i don't think i would want to do another one right away, next time i do something like this it's going to be when it's cooler out, these 90+ degree days suck for working in the garage.
an easy way to wire up the doors is to just use the wrx door wiring, plug it in i just used the switches from the WRX (door locks, windows) and trim down the box as much as possible, then i just used a dremmel to make the holes a bit bigger. for the door lock actuators just clip the ends off both your old and new door wiring and swap them and everything will work. if you got any questions feel free to ask me i am done with all my wiring on my swap.
Nice work man. You work at a pretty good clip in this weather! I work on my car a few hours at a time maybe once a week..lol
