My other car is an Aspire

    My fiancee has a 95 Ford aspire and last year the drivers side lock broke. I took it apart and realized I needed a new one. It turned out to be cheaper to put power-locks and a key-less entry in than to fix the lock. I've done that and they work great! Only one little problem...the wires that I hooked into to make the blinkers flash wern't the right ones...When I hooked the multimeter up to them the pulsed as they should.

    I think I tapped into the wires before they go to the blinker box(which controls the flashing)

    Does anyone have any Ideas on how I might find the correct wires?

    I didn't know that! We love that little car...it gets 36 miles per gallon, combined hwy/street!! Who cares if you can't drive it in the snow or rain, or even if there is a chance for snow or rain. Seriously though....lets get back to solving my problem!!

    What kind of source do you need? Constant power? Power when the key is in accessory? Or power only on ignition?

    Secondly, where in the car does the "brain" or controller for the locks go?

    I just recently sold my 94 aspire...that car got me everywhere, not as good as my wrx, but much cheaper...also nice to not be looking at an $800 bill when it comes time for tires!

    Yeah, all my locks wore out on that car, and had to buy a replacement set, and you're right, they aint cheap!

    I did a lot of car stereo work on my car, it's pretty easy to find the power connection you need with a multimeter.
    Just open the fuse box, put one probe on a ground, put the ignition switch in the postion it will be in when you need the power, and just probe until you find one that will work.
    After that you can tap the wire, or there is also taps that you plug a fuse into, that plugs into the fuse socket, and provides you're tap that way.

    Forgive me...I didn't explain well

    The power locks work great. I know how to find all of the power wires.

    There is a feature with the key-less entry that makes the blinkers flash when you unlock the car or lock it. (once on lock and twice on unlock)

    The problem I'm having is finding the correct wires to make that happen. I've done this sort of install a few times....

    I believe my problem is that the wires I connected too are before the blinker control box. Meaning that when the box blinks the lights the power only makes it to that box an then stops because that box regulates the blinkers. (That box is what makes the blinker clicking sound)

    Let me know if this is a better explanation.

    It just an additional little feature that I'd like to see working, but not really a big deal.

    Oh, now I see...
    I would imagine if you found the hazard light switch wires (the wires that come from that switch, into the blinker box) and fed them in there, that would work.
