that's right, they came today, WAY bigger than I thought, I should've known, my XMods car is 1:28, and these are 1:32....they're like 6" long!! Citroen vs. Subaru winter rally. complete with 4WD and one traction-free drift corner! hole track in my computer room, it's taking up the whole room! They're both supposed to have working headlights, but one of the LED's cracked in the citroen, so they don't work. but the subaru's ones work perfectly! and a few drift pics, I drove out of all of these, but I doubt it would be that easy if that gaurdrail was 2" further back like it's supposed to be the best one....check out the cat in the background so duluth guys.....we can have some races on friday after firestone, but I'm not transporting this thing.
yea, it's a perfect model, regular headlights, plus 4 lights in the rally 'pod' on the hood. even has a driver and codriver (who's holding up a piece of paper)
hehe thats awsome chux. next time i am in duluth i will have to try that thing lol. hey are you planing on briign it back for spring break??? oohh yeah and jeff want to play civ over break.
Who is the manufacturer of the set ? I'm betting Ninco or SCX. I'm about to break out my Scalextric set from under the stairs. Four lanes, 40 cars, RMS (PC controlled race management/timing/scoring), and no one room in the house big enough to contain it Stoooo's Handy Slot Car Tip #1 - If you only have one power supply, get a second one. Unless you like the power surges that send you spinning off on the corners when the other car stops. I have been a happy shopper at http://www.fantasyworldhobbies.com/ for years. And if you have Scalextric compatible track, they are dumping the straight sections for cheap right now; as little as $2 each. I just bought 50 at Xmas. Bye for now, Stuart.
it's an SCX....I was just looking for subaru models on ebay, when I stumbled across this the cars have real rubber tires, and most of the track has a nice texture to it, except that corner. it's completely smooth, aswell as having less metal underneath it, so traction is almost zero. it's a total rally drift corner...
wow that actually have the one that chux got on that website. thats a cool website. are teh cars intercahngeable? can you use lets say a ninco car on a SCX trac ect...?
Feel free to ask questions, I have been 1/32 slot car racing since 1980. I don't promise to have all the answers, but I do know a few tricks. Rubber tyres are great now, but silicone ones are very cool, too. There are even different compounds to choose from. Motors can be swapped out for ones with higher revs or higher torque; very rarely do both of those coincide. Gear ratios can be changed on either the axle or the motor to improve acceleration or top speed. Ninco and Scalextric both have great tools for doing this. Cars from the following manufacturers will run fine on the SCX track: Scalextric Fly (expensive, but beautifully made and *fast*) SCX Carrera Ninco MRRC AutoArt (gorgeous Subaru models from these guys) Slot.It (awesome aftermarket parts, too) To get the real rally experience, take the magnets out of the cars, and put the track borders on; hitting those barriers kills the slide. Another great supplier - http://www.sportcraftcars.com/ SCX track is directly interchangeable with Scalextric Classic Track. Cars run faster with the lights unplugged as more power gets to the motor. Ninco has a 'Dog Bone' track piece that turns a two lane track to a one lane track, a la stage rally. An adapter to hook Ninco track to Scalextric/SCX track is available. Bye for now, Stuart.
problem is, the lights only come on when the throttle is on, so it's hard to get a good shot of them they're super bright LED's though, you can see the track in front of the car with the room completely dark!
Then prop up the rear wheels so it sits still. Or, if these are AWD, prop up both front and rear, and bend the braids down so they still touch the track enough to run. Oh, one other thing on magnets, there are lots of aftermarket ones to choose from. One of my cars has a magnet so strong it will actually hang upside down from a piece of track. So, it has more 'downforce' than its own weight. Stuart.
OK, I renamed the thread, since I've now got more subaru toys....hehe got an '04 WRX STi body for my XMods, and the command logic LED head and tail light system All 8 of my subaru toys A low light pic of the 2 WRX's And my Hummer H2 Xmods riding on big ol' super swampers
I must have been a very good boy this year... DSCF1429 by stoooo, on Flickr Now to hunt down the Ken Block version. Oh, yeah, and actually build a fresh slot car track to run them on
