I am sorry but everytime I go to that site (I do cause this isnt always busy) I leave with a sick feeling... it seems that it is a bunch of haters and wankers.. granted there are probably some decent people on there but if anyone posts something remotely NEWBIE ro anything they tear them a new arsehole... I read things on this forum occasionally that I kinda roll my eyes and pray that it doesnt turn into NASIOC, but the difference here is 99% of the time people are ripping on each other cause they are buddies not cause they think they are Gods Gift to Subaru... It is unfortunate cause there can be a lot of info on that site but it is like wading through a river of Craaaaap just to find an island of Shiiiiiiiiit.... Please dont allow this club to go that route... If you see somehting you dont like or think is stoopid.. why waste the time to comment... I dont... I just back click and soon enough the forum posted rolls its way to the bottom of the list cause nobody cares about the topic.. Probably the way this will but now I feel a lot better for venting... gonna go wade through the craaap some more and see how much dumber I can become afterwards... cheers... ps may see some of you out tonight... maybe i fnot.. next weekend at Meineke... caoi
it seems like every time i get on NASIOC, i get this "Staring at the Sun" feeling. it's just too much to take in and keep up with. it's best taken in small doses i think.
ya, I see that often. DRAMA DRAMA. LOL Just like the threads that are about the new drivers rolling their subaru. The vultures come down and "stupid" the driver down with tons of alphabet letters i.e. "You're so stupid!" "People like you are who make out insurance rates go up." etc...... eh.....I do get fed up with it... but I only go there for info..... and sometimes defend the living life of the ones who roll there subie. LOL
I only go there to check up on the Aftermarket Forced Induction and Engine Management forums, everything else got full of idiots. Aside from the occasional n00b asking how to turbocharge his RS or what turbo kit is the best most of the folks in the above-mentioned forums are pretty knowledgeable. Problem is you need to have been around long enough to know which ones know their crap and which ones are new and spewing garbage into posts. And I'm also going to pay a visit there to post my car for sale. Forgot to do that last week
ive noticed this alot on nasioc as well, but bein a honda convert it really doesnt bother me because honda-tech.com is about 100 times worse. but nasioc has been much better then the other suby forums for research ive done, i usually just have to search through it and skim through the crap and flaming to find the good stuff like you said.
when i first was on nasioc and asked some questions i got flammed bad.. gave me a foul sour taste in my mouth. some people are just not so friendly
Engine Management & Tuning is the only forum worth visiting, aside from the occasional informative thread in the 2.0L and 2.5L forums. Everywhere else the signal to noise ratio has plunged to basically zero.
if you think your question is A) searchable, or fairly obvious B) maybe a little bit dumb C) about street racing D) retardedly outrageous E) about which is better, an Evo, an STi, or a SRT-4 F) about how much some part or service should cost G) about this hot chick picture then just avoid nasioc altogether. Its such a big board that the people who do have vauable knowledge (and there are quite a few of them) can really help, but don't want the board cluttered with "fag" this, I smoked a civic last night, and other pointless interweb crapola that drags down a lot of other forums. Its a straight up car tech board, 90% of it, and it is a very useful resource for people who want to dig into their cars technically, however it is far from a "car lifestyle" or social board. Or a comparison I like to make: it's more "Grassroots Motorsports," less "Super Street"

I should also say there are some very knowledgeable people and mostly good quality discussion in the Suspension forum as well.
