Nasioc has been saying they might go down for awhile because of Hurricane Wilma, I guess their server is in Florida. The last I could access their board they stated they were on alternate power.

Sorry, I've been twitching a bit since they've been down. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop taking Valium.

    From Nasioc just now:

    UPDATE 3:30pm EST:
Well Wilma made it's way past us, and it was the worst hurricane I've ever been witness to. The storm made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane and stayed a 3 all the way across the peninsula. That is very uncommon. Fortunately the damage is not too horrible. But sheds, gates, screened in porches took lots of damage just around where I am. We are still on generator and have been since 9am this morning.

So for now we'll be online... and as long as they get the power back on in a reasonable amount of time we'll be ok. I have about a weeks worth of fuel to run the generators and keep the site up. I'll keep you posted if we have to take the site down, but it wouldn't be until the weekend or possible later. The reason I'm not sure is in this area last year it took anywhere from days to weeks for people to get the power turned back on.

And I hope everyone else who went through this storm made it through relatively safe.

    -Nick

    Hey Guys,
Hurricane Wilma is beating down on us right now. And we're in fact on generator right now. The storm is expected to pass within the next few hours, but when will regain power is unknown. FPL has said a few days to a few weeks. I'm obviously hoping for sooner.

So everyone keep their fingers crossed!

NASIOC is back up on Generator power again. As of 11:30ish this morning our time.

    UPDATE 10/27 12:30pm

    I hate hurricanes!

Needless to say we're back online. We're still running on generator, but the internet connection came back up just a short while ago. Let's all just keep our fingers crossed that nothing bad happens and it stays up. So welcome back everyone... sorry for the downtime.

Wilma demolished most of Florida's power infastructure. In fact the electrical damage caused by Wilma was worse than the electrical damage caused by Katrina. At this point a good deal of Florida is still without power, including myself. Fortunatly we have a 15KW propane generator to keep the servers online. As of this point FPL (Florida Power & Light) has said that we shouldn't expect power until the 15th. I'm a but more optimistic than that because I see that as of this point over half the people in the county I live have their power back. Either way I'm having propane delivered until the power comes back on.

So again welcome back to NASIOC.

    -Nick
