Was wondering if anyone could help a lady out! I have some brakes to put in my car. However, the only tool I've every picked up and used is a screwdriver and a hammer! Any suggestions as of who I could finnagle to put them in for me?

You might want to post in the Rochester thread for some help. I could certainly help you out but you would have to drive to the cities.

I would love to help but wont have time to get to rochester in the near future. pay close attention to how its done, becuase it is pretty easy, and then you will be a pro at WRX brakes.

most will... some may charge more for their time...

seriously it isnt hard although being a safety item, get it done by someone who knows what they are doing... I mean many people on here can do them but do they do them as good as they should be done... nothing against anyone.. just there are little things that will make a difference to the overall effectiveness and longetivity of the brakes...

^^^ What would be some of the most common mistakes. Also any good hits for the do-it-yourselfers?

I know ONE of the things people usually screw up on regarding longevity of the brakes.

GREASE YOUR BRAKE SLIDERS!!! just use some bearing grease, lube 'em up EVERY time you do your brakes. MAN i'm sick of having to break those stupid things loose with a torch.

also slightly grease back of pads (unless stainless steel shims) and the piston...

If you don't mind driving down to Spring Valley, I could help out. Haven't done brakes on my 9-2x yet, but I've replaced rotors/pads a couple times on previous vehicles. I can't imagine it's all that much different, and I should I have all the right tools. (Famous last words, huh? :))

I'm home all day tomorrow, my wife and her sister are heading up to the cities to go shopping all day. Otherwise I'm pretty much gone on the weekends until after the holidays.

If that works for you, give me a call, 250-0938.
