Saw this house in Waconia off the new Cty Rd 10 since they reopened it heading twords Chaska. Looks like a lot of work! Didnt know they moved hoses that big. looks like they detached the garage for transport!
lol yeah Ive seen a lot get moved but nothing that big yet. When I lived with my parents I used to wake up by the sound of trucks slowly moving a house down the road behind them and a ton of lights at like 2am. Pretty cool sight!
I saw a house get moved across a field/swamp. They had to wait until winter when it all froze over/under.
Looks like when my gf's house was up on stilts getting a new foundation! They lifted it 2 feet I think...it was an amazing sight!
http://www.texascrane.com/info_faqs/guiness.shtml I saw this hotel when I was in Texas. Biggest building ever moved?? It's a world record I guess.
Haha, we(Josh's), are "in the know" on our History channel and Discovery. My dad had a one level ranch style house with an attached garage that we had a company move a couple of miles. Interesting to watch none the less.
Indeed we are my friend. That must have been really cool to watch. I wouldn't even know where to start on a job like that. I wonder how high the insurance premium is with those moving companies..
that would be a funny joke to play on the family. move the house while they're at school and work..:eek4::laugh:
I've done an underpin (build a foundation under a moved house) and its FTL. We couldn't put the block in the hole, and you bang your head on all kinds of crap when you get up a few courses.
I remember seeing that shubet theater all lifted up before they moved it when I was driving downtown when they moved it
Today I had to do some running around and saw this house again but this time it was moving down the road just north of New Germany. I stopped and talked to the State Patrol Guy and he said its moving up to Howard Lake. Im not sure how far that is from waconia but I think its at least 30 miles if not more. I got ahead of the house while it was moving 2-5 mph down the road. I went down some back roads to get a head, and sat on this dirt road for 10 minutes till he caught up to me.. I saw someone from on here Yellow 02-03 with a carbon fibre hood? and yellow club stickers, While I was sitting there waiting for the house to come by. Here are some pictures. They are just camera phone pics because of course I left my camera at home. Sorry some of these are big. I just dumped them right on here from my phone. The last two pictures the moving crew caught up to the electrical guys taking down power lines so they had to stop the trucks.
That 3rd or 4th pic down where he's crossing the intersection is amazing Dave! Funny, that you were able to get updated pics for this thread.
Your welcome. I figured as long as I had some form of camera might as well get some shots. lol Not like you see this that often
cool stuff. Do you think the sturtuce gets damaged at all from the move? i cant imagine it being a smooth ride.
It's usually minimal stuff that can be repaired with a little joint compound and some fresh paint. Not structual, just cosmetic.
more Heres a reply I got from somone I emailed these pictures to "That’s a house built by a former Minnesota Viking and they found out about the new road coming through after they had built and moved in. I think they built a house somewhere else and sold this to someone else." Just thought I would share. Dave
Yeah I was kinda thinking about that. What, some engineer decide one day without informing anyone .. " Yeah see that house that they just built, Our only option is to go right through there with the new road." Wouldnt you think they would have already had those plans down before someone would build a house there?? Especially if it wasnt long after they moved in??
