so my mom needs a new car and her request's are to A. not have it be a chevy or a ford (i can understand why) and B. that it have heated seats. I have all along suggested a legacy cause she can get everything she needs and wants plus awd and side air bags that my dad thinks she should have. She has seen them and likes they way they look I plan on taking her for a test drive to hook her for good. fyi my moms like 60 and only drives automatic (two words "female driver")
only problem is trying to convince my dad he wanted to by her an older ugly malibu which she was grotesque by. His next choice is a an older lexus which are nice cars but I dont think he will be able to get what he wants for a good price. ( he can be cheap). He is an old car buff who is cheap and tight with his money..always buys cheap cars and tinkers with them but my mom would finally like a nice car for once. they have never owned anything newer than 1998.

long story short what I wanna do is get some reply's from as many fellow subi lovers as to why legacy's are nice, safe, reliable and can be found for some what good prices. you may also just make some funny reply's or demands such as "buy her a legacy or the cats dies".I wanna compile all the responses from all my fellow subi members and send him one big email. this is one I liked in particular..seems like a good deal. if only i can get him to not hate dealerships so much ..for some reason he only wants to by private party. Thanks for the help!!!! even though it is a weird request.http://www.carsoup.com/myfox9/used-vehicles/detail/Car-Truck/Twin-Cities-Minnesota/Subaru/Legacy-GT-Limited-AWD/2005/12932222/?returl=L3ZlaGljbGUvc3VtbWFyeS5hc3B4P3ZlaGljbGV0eXBlaWQ9MSZtYXJrZXRpZD0xJm1ha2VpZD03MiZtb2RlbGlkPTM1NDMmaW52dHlwZWlkPTImc29ydD1hc2Mmc29ydGNvbD1wcmljZSZwYWdlbnVtPTEmcmVmaW5laWRzPW1vZGVsaWQ~&rdt=1

He can buy himself whatever he wants when he's shopping for him. She wants a legacy.

If she isnt good about changing and checking oil, make sure she gets a REGULAR legacy, or a 6 cylinder, they are more forgiving than the turbos.

well its on its last leg but a Mitsubishi diamante like a 94 or something. shes doesnt change her oil or pump her own gas hahaha my dad takes care of all of that and hes really good about it, he is a mechanical engineer and understands the keep up of a turbo vs a non turbo. I know he will love to drive it as much as he loves driving my car (he just doesn't fit in it to well cause hes a big guy).

What's the budget and how is her commute?

Our stock 5eat lgt is a very comfortable commuter, but I'd want something with better fuel economy if we drove it more than the 500-800 miles a month that we do.

As an engineer he will appreciate the simplicity in form and function. The interchangeability of parts is outstanding. The subaru community is not only huge and knowledgeable but usually willing to help. Plus the 20% off of parts at Morries is a nice sweetener. He's got to also realize that during the heavy rains and snows, the wife has an edge in traction and thus control of her vehicle. The defense rests...

Idget, what kind of mileage are you getting with your LGT? I'm able to get 22-23 on an average tank with the FXT. That is primarily city driving, very little freeway. Freeway is up in the 25-26 range. I'm thinking the LGT should be a little better than that...?

Not much better. My 05 LGT is 22.8-23.5 combined and highway ~27. Mine is a stage 2 car.

22 summer and 18 winter. Bone stock. Probably 80% city.

Emily, look into 3 series 4 doors too. The lgt wants so badly to be a bmw that at a certain price point you might as well pick up a bmw.
