My GF just bought a 97 legacy GT a few months ago from a lady in the cities. Here's the problem went out and started it and it sounds like it has bad rod knock all of the sudden ( as in i moved it this morning and it was fine) and this afternoon the sound was there.

Here's the part that pisses me off. the car had the head gasket problem already and previous owner fixed it (new long block and everything- 4,300$ fix) that's the reason we bought the car expecting to not have any major problems.

so what do i do? i live in brainerd so it's a ways from the cities, but i feel this should be a covered problem since the car has only 86,000 miles on it and the new long block was done at 78,000 and dec. of last year.

    anyone, please help?

My 2000 gt had the same issue, let the engine warm up, and it should do it again. Subaru wound up replacing the motor. They told me they were raplacing most cars under 125,000 miles.
