I got a free snowblower from a coworker. This thing is over 30 years old. The auger system was scraping so I opt'd to take it apart.. and clean it out as you'll soon see. What I found out is somehow the metal pipe that rotates the blades was bent. Not a huge bend but a bend that affects the performance. The pipe is 27 inches or so long, and about 1 to 1.5 inch in diameter, solid steel. I'd try to bend this myself, but being a 30 year old machine it's hard for me to find replacement parts (which I have). I'd rather hire someone to help me out then try to find a replacement. Can anyone help me out? Here's an image with some of the pipe in it. I will remove the gear that is attached to it. 30 year old gear oil ftl.
I got a big hammer. Get a fat buddy to sit on it between a few cinder blocks or something. As you said, its 30 years old, it doesn't need to be precision work.
I got a snowblower you can have, the trans/thrower portion is great, it just needs a motor, the existing motor is locked up. LMK, its probably close to that old too. a TORO.
^ 2 broken snow blowers = 1 fixed snow blowers. You can stick the end of your pipe in a vice and put another pipe over the bent portion and bend it back. You can also heat it up with a torch to make the bending process easier.
Thank you all for reaching out to me. A member of the board has PM'd me about helping me out. I'll let you know if he is not able to. I'll also be having a new thread soon about this snow blower. Let's just say "Pimp my ride" meets the snowblower
psshhhh 10" spinner hub caps, all chromed out, neons, nitrous, 4" watermelon shooter exhaust, diamond tipped snow blades.... ALL THAT!
Sounds like a candidate for a blown V8 swap. Just in case he wants to throw snow into Brooklyn Park or so...
Sheesh. First he's trying to be nice, now he's turning down turboing something else? I fear the pod people have abducted him.
the motor no long runs!!! LOL I think it was the no governer + no oil situation... and i'm trying to be less nice.
