My 86 XT had the wiper motor go out. I picked up a new motor, removed the whole asby from the car and replaced the motor. Now I cant get the wiper to work correctly without the arm that connects the motor to the sleve assy hitting the body or jambing when it tries to leave the parked position.

Is there some trick to replace this thing? I just ordered a new sleeve assy and connecting arm from Subaru but have to wait awhile for them to ship from Japan.

    Any ideas?

is it some type of alingment issue? i havent worked on subie wipers before but i know on geos its a rack system, and if it isnt aligned corently the wiper will jam and have a real limited range.

Yeah I'm sure it is but

I was wondering if there was a factory way of doing it. I ran the motor and turned the switch off so the motor would park. Then I put the wiper transmission back on so it would have the wiper arm parked in it's spot and then connected the arm from the sleeve to the wiper motor. It either starts and goes past center and jambs on the sleeve bracket or it starts to go and then jambs against the body. Really upsetting me.....

You need to get in contact with Todd. I think he's owned like eighty-bizillion XTs, give or take.

    Hmmm

Dont know Todd I guess. I have all the parts on order now new from Subaru. Just wondering if there was a write up in a shop manuel on setting the wiper.
Guess I will just let the motor park and then park the wiper in it's spot and hook up arm. See what happens. Anyway, look for a wiper on the car at the BBQ and you will know if I got it fixed yet. :)
