I get this wierd smell inside the car. I am not sure where it comes from, but i think it stinks more when i rev up the engine. It seems like its comming from the vents but i am not sure. The smell is hard to describe and it is there not all the time. My friedn said it smells like an organic decay but to me it smells like wet socks or wet cloath. I am suspecting the rubber mats. But i am not sure. Anyone have an idea of wher the smell migh be coming from?

yeap, i will change cabin filter that is a good call. And i am probably going to get the car professionaly cleaned. I mean i can do it myself, but i want to get the seats
steamed and the engine hand cleand. And i am totaly taking the rubber matts out atleast for the summer.

LOL, thats funny. I doubt that tho. I think something is just wet somewhere. I just noticed that i myself kinda smell like that. I think its because i am wearing same cloath i got wet in riding my ninja on friday. I know it sound groce.

I ran my power cable through the fender and down the drivers side of the car. It took a bit extra, but worked out perfectly. All the remote power and RCA cables went down the center and met up under the rear seat. Worked out prety well. Make sure to have a fuse next to the battery for the power cable.

Generally, in my experience, used coolant smells like a cross between rubber hose and a dirty sweetness. Could your heater core be leaking?

And the smell ... does NOT come off Fry Man ... I gotta wait for the skin on this hand to DIE!

It could be a dead mouse or something caught somewhere ... or just needs a cleaning.

Need to find out what noise i have!

Ok, so the car needs all four brakes replaced badly, and it is making a somewhat loud noise. The noise is not like the sensor for breakes but more like road noise. I cant hear it when i am going under 20mph, but when i get up to speed i can really start hearing it. It is more notisable when deselerating. It seems like its comming from the back as well as the front of the car. I am really worried it might be the diffs. So my question is how does a bad diff sound and how much will it cost to get it fixed/rebuild/replace?

    Thanks a lot, Taras

Instead of guessing what the problem is,
just have it looked at when you get you 60k service done.

Could be urathane bushings. My car makes quite a bit of noise when letting off of the gas from the group-N tranny mount and all of my rear diff bushings. Ask the previous owner if he put any upgraded bushings in.

Um, no...Do you pay attention to anything myself or anyone else has told you in the last 3 months? The MNSubaru discount is ONLY in place at Morries Brooklyn Park or Minnetonka Subaru.

You'll have to order the Redline from either LSE Performance in Maple Grove or online. You'll have to go to Pepboys for the Hypoy C and you can hit up a GM dealership for the synchromesh.

Also, it's very highly unlikely that it's your rubber mats. I've been running them in Subarus for the last 4 years and have yet to have a smell issue from them. I've also never heard of any complaints from any customers with the mats.

Why don't you let a club member look at the car. The dealer will not know a weird sound of it is because of a aftermarket part. As for the brakes, PLEASE let me know before you go buy some cheap e-bay crap. I can get you the MNS discount trough frozen rotors. A good setup through them will be expensive, but will outlast your car.

the noise is probably wheel bearings. Diffs arent going to be bad. If your diffs ARE the culprit, you may need to add/change fluid.

Very doubltful that its a serious problem.

It's the tires. Those continentals are loud! I rode in that car less than a week ago.... there is nothing wrong with it.

I'm not one to believe that bad luck like that can happen after a sale so soon, but the car was solid with it left my hands. As confirmed by WB Subaru the Brakes are in need of replacing and I subtracted replacement cost from the dealer.

The tires are noisy, we talked about it, if you have hard feelings about them we can talk. Also I gave you the stock wheels with tires, swap them out.

Shane, i am not worried about you riping me off. You seem like a trustworthy person. I am preatty sure its tires and the thing is that i totaly dont care if they are noisy, just want to be sure that its the tires. So no worries.
Thanks for a chance to have a beautiful car.

i'd vote tires...when i bought mine i thought something was wrong but theres just no noise insulation and i guess you have really f'n loud tires...either that or a bearing

nate-thats crazy that you chipped gears... I've never heard of that just happening under a regular load. Now high HP apps or serious torque against some sort of obstacle (like offroading) I can see...

yep, i figured that imprezas do not have good insulation. I put a sub in the car today and it is only a little 12" that barely puts out 200w is making the entire car rattle like a rattle snake :eek3: :ugh: . But i still love the sound. I have never had a sub in my car, because i really mostly listen to MPR. But now with a nice car like that i had to get a small sub, i actually wish i got a smaller one. But this one i got for free from my friend.

Again, once you find out how much it costs for brakes at the dealer, let me know. With our club discount, frozen rotors will have the best bang for the buck for performance parts. Like Nate said, make sure you resurface the rotors when you install new pads, or better yet, just get some good rotors and pads and call it a day.

I would love to get some nice slotted rotors and nice pads. I think they told Shane that i t will cost 280 for the brakes. How much will it cost for slotted rotors and nice pads from frozen rotors?

ok, so now i know how to replicate the this smell. I just had a little spirited driving with a an M3 on cliff, and after i got to my GF house on burnsville parkway i right away smelled the that stench it is more like a smell of burning rubber. I oppend the hood and the smell was there but not too strong. What could that be.
