Anyone here good with setting up Home Entertainment system. I know enough to get the wires connected and working but I need someone who can get quality image out of my setup and suggest what else is needed.

Chong, I got it from Ultimate Electronic... spent way too much today already. I can't afford to have one of their people come out to diagnose my system. Anyone else with info would be greatly appreciated.

Russ, I just bought a 65in Mitsubishi WS66513 unit. I know the unit is more then my small living room can handle. It could also be due to the small living quater... I'm running a RGB component cable from my DVD unit to the TV for clearer output but it's a bit blurry and doesn't give me the clean line I notice on the show floor or with my 36in TV.

Your setup doesn't support S-Video? You may want to try that. Otherwise, I'm assuming it's rear projection. Sometimes during moving, you can wack the mirrors out of alignment a bit. You just need to go into the TV setup and there should be a way to realign them.

Take it back to them; tell them you'll sue them for false advertising; get your money; buy a 90% cheaper TV (~$300); buy me dinner for advice; go on vacation with what's left. :p

    No help here.

John, my setup does support S Video but RGB Component are much higher quality. It really makes a difference if you use a progressive scanner type DVD player and that's what I have.

It's a wide screen rear projector so it could be that the mirror are off on the way home yesterday. I'll see if there's a way I can get the mirror back inline... Thanks for the suggestion...

Anyone else has experience with this... please let me know... feel free to stop by and help. Dinners on me :)

Make sure to use good shielded cable for your audio/video cables. Cheap component video cables can get interference from the TV and would then produce a bit of a fuzzy image.

there should be a set up/aligh function in the menu.
on mine it throws up a red, blue and green cross hair in turn. you adjust the cross hair to be aligned properly, then you align the 3 crosshairs to overlap correctly.

that and a good shielded cable will get you very nice results.

fwiw, i bought mine from the hy's pawn downtown...
it surely had been rolled at least once, but i know the owner and got a killer deal on it.
we ran the setup at home, and it looks 10 times better than it did at the shop.

    off topic but chong,

i'm looking into buying a tv for me as well..you think i can get in on that deal?

on topic: i thought you was talking about hooking up home entertainment system like a sound system, using a reciever to amplify the sound, music from your dvd,cd player, tv and such....but if it has to do with the big scrn, i'm clueless.

John, it was painful when it comes to delivery. I did the delivery process using the help of my brother, a couple of cousins... so 4 of us took the whole unit into the house with no dolly... just pure human wit.

I was going to take the unit down to the basement but it was way too big to fit through... maybe when I get a chance to take it apart, I'll take it down piece by piece. It can be detach into two parts.

I'm going to go back out and pick up a couple of the monster cable they have. I reuse my old component cable I bought a year ago... it was pretty nice IMO. I'm not sure if the Monster will do any better but we'll see.

Also I don't know the details but there's a type of in-line filter you can buy to help clear it up.

No need for a line filter unless you're using more than 10 feet of cable really. Those are usually for analog signals anyway. IIRC component is digital.

FWIW, if you decide to switch cables, let me know. I work over at the Minnetonka Ultimate and can hook you up on the monster stuff. This goes for pretty much anything that we sell, car or home gear (there is a ton of markup on car audio stuff so i can generally give sweet deals on decks, speakers, etc.).

cool, i like whay you did on your stealth radar install.
i took a few of your ideas and applied them to mine. i also like how you trimmed out your grill. it's very clean.

how did you tackle the rear facing laser sensor install? i have been comtemplating taking off the rear bumper, and drilling a new hole right next to the existing one for the plate lighting...

my sti is white with silver rims. and big stinkin mud flaps.
i stop by your store every now and then to check out new stuff.

do you work install, or just mostly sales?

thanks. we put the brain for the sr7 in the dash under where the display now resides. iirc, we ran the wire for the rear sensor under the trim pieces along the driver side, under the rear seat, and through the trunk on the right hand side. if you pull the trim out of the trunk, you can see a little spot to push the wire through to the outside of the car (if you look at the bumper cover from the ground you will see a huge hole where the styrofoam from the bumper fill is visible). just poke around in there and you should find the spot. then the sensor simply mounts on the two top bolts of the liscence plate. it looked kind of awkward with just the sensor hanging from the plate, so to make it a little less obvious i also bolted on a simple black metal license plate frame. if you'd like, just stop by the store when you have some free time and i'll show ya how we ran it. i'm a home sales guy (i had my install buddy mike help me with the sr7 and remote start and stuff) so i should be up at the store most of the time. i'll keep an eye out for the sti.
