Take a look at Bnuts' bug eye. That body will be the cleanest you can find, he just painted it not two months ago.

Why did it need a new motor and trans at 100k?

    Conrats on selling the neon.

Anyone you choose to buy, get a compression test done on it. TRUST ME, lol. All jokes aside, have someone look at it, RS motors is my first choice but I have heard nothing but good things from Nuke as well. Either way if your gonna spend some serious $$ get it checked out, don't listen to the seller.

I find it hard to believe that it has a new motor and trans if it's being sold for less than $6500. With a new motor and trans it should be priced at about $10-11k...sounds too good to be true.

If he had paperwork yes but he has no way to prove it without it tjeres no way it would sell close to that.

So, you're taking his word that the motor and tranny were replaced? New parts? Used? Did he put them in himself?

    I'd run away, personally.

Hard to say, Sounds like a botched motor swap and is selling to cut his loses. Something else must be wrong or about to go wrong. My .02

    This!
If you're serious about spending $X,000 on a car you know next to nothing about, please save yourself the trouble of any number of problems a few months (or sooner) from now and get it inspected by someone who knows these cars! A couple hundred bucks of a knowledgeable tech's time now will only save you money in the long run. Best of luck!

Reason for selling is to build his Sti I do have a compresion tester and have a decent amout of mechanical knowledge of cars but still learning about the tuner world this car is one of 2 in my price range runs good few new parts on it versus one that has rust and needs a clutch and a few other small things im looking at it tonight hopefully it checks out good!

Subaru's are unlike any other car (if you ask me). Your knowledge is good but if you don't know subaru's then take it to someone who does. I don't think your getting it. We are trying to help you but if you don't or won't listen, then just say so. It would be easier that way. Since it was "claimed" to be tuned at RS motors, I would assume they have record of that. Your 4k is nothing to the amount I spent on an 07 that was doomed from the start. I am not just blowing smoke here. I don't want to see someone that can't afford to go through what I have, go through it. This day and age, $ is hard earned and every precaution should be taken when investing it. my .02.

If there is the slightest hesitation or your idle is rough, don't even consider it.

Could be, or need more than that, but I am pretty sure he is not looking for a car that he is going to have to fix right away.
