So far I have put the last 6 weekends into restoring/rebuilding a 02 WRX wagon. Finally drove it to work for the first time today, and wow it drives nice. So after reworking everything but the motor (which is on the list) I'm looking to re-paint the wagon, i've painted cars in the past but I have always used crap paint and they were not my cars, or quality was not that important at the time (X-girlfriends cars, you know how it goes). So with that said, I can handle the prep work, painting etc... but what I cant figure out is where to get high quality urethane based WRB paint in the Twin Cities area. Does anyone have any experience with this? Im planning on doing a write up on the painting to contribute to to the forum. I also need the windows tinted, does anyone have a good recommendation for that? I know there is a place near Menards in Golden Valley where I live, anyone know if they are any good? thanks, Chris
Tint=Chris Welcke(Flawless Front Ends) He's in Prior Lake, but his work is awesome and he's a great guy!
+1 for Chris at Flawless Front Ends, great guy, great work, great prices. I'm not sure on paint though, perhaps the dealer can help?
There's a PPG shop in Edina, they are high quality as you probably know, but it's not going to be cheap! Give them a call with the paint code from your drivers side door plate (02C?) and they should be able to give you a quote : ) PPG Industries Inc (952) 831-3181 7725 Parklawn Ave, Edina, MN 55435 http://goo.gl/maps/qcky5
Thanks for the thoughts, I did not realize there is an actual PPG store, ill look it up. Same with the window tint place.
chris is not a actual shop he does it out of his gurage on the side. His real life job takes him all over so it can be months before he will be able to get to you but imo worth the wait.,
It's been said before that you'll find a text message is the best way to get a hold of him; but be patient. Use the search tool on this forum to find why many of us have supported Chris as a MNSubaru recognized vendor.
Also I know that you can (buddy of mine did it) go to a body shop, I don't know if they all do but I believe some will, get the paint for you or custom mix it for you.
