    Hello All,

I just purchased a used snowmobile hood that has some gouges in the plastic. I plan on getting it Vinyl wrapped and want to smooth out the surface in preparation for that. Anyone know if Bondo will do the trick? Or is there something else I can use for plastic that will be easy to sand down and return the sled back to its normal shape.

i wouldn't recommend using bondo, since it gets stiff when its dry and on plastic it will just flake off.
but either a plastic welder type system may work, or the old fashioned heat/melt a zip-tie and push it into place.
not sure if this does work or not, but they do have fiberglass bondo type stuff (tiger hair or something) that may also work.
best alternative, get an aftermarket hood.

Better advice - sell the snowmobile and keep the wheels.

bondo does make a abs plastic weld,
so we would need to know what the plastic is.

I wish I knew the exact type of plastic - google is turning up little in the way of results on that front though :(. But I do believe it is abs plastic. I was looking at a 3M product used to repair gouges in plastic car bumpers and such...it looks like that might do the trick.

What year and make? I have toured the Polaris plastics plant a few times but I can't for sure remember what plastic they use. I might be able to find out if it's any help.

I used shoegoo and that worked pretty well and it doesn't look to bad after sanding.

Aren't a lot of these plastic parts marked with initials indicating what type of plastic they are?
