Hey all...It's been awhile since I've been on. (retail sucks over the winter) Anywho, I've been wanting to boost my 2.5rs for a couple years now, and I think this year is the year. I was wondering if anyone out there has done it, and if so, what i need to do/look for.

I'm getting a stock WRX turbo, BOV, and intercooler/y-pipe already. I know I need to put a voltage clamp on my ECU (no biggie). I'm pretty sure I need a variable fuel pressure regulator and possibly a new fuel pump. I'm not sure about a water pump, but I've heard it mentioned.

Anyway, if anyone has some ACTUALL experience with this, I would GREATLY appreciate any help. Thanks in advace!

P.S: Like I mentioned last fall, if anyone needs any Audio/Video/Security installed, I'm the supervisor over at Minnetonka Circuit. Hit me up! :-D

    You'll need Injectors also.

just tossing this out, I think you're better off just dropping a wrx longblock and ecu.

but you can still boost your block.

^^^ what he said. 2.5 blocks are weak and anything more than 8 or 9lbs and boom! engine go bye bye. my .02 drop a ej20t in there instead, alot more safe and about the same amount of cash money.

sell ur rs and buy one thats already swap. Less headache and Ezer to upgrade but you face the facts of not knowing whats done to it. But I would take a chance since I know my GC/GF's pretty well mechanically.

    yep :)

the biggest thing you have to consider, is what are you willing to spend (and not just money....time, inconvenience, labor, etc.), and what do you want out of it.

if you're just looking to tack on a few (20-30) hp to your top end, adding a few pounds of boost is definitely an option. and as long as you keep the boost to a reasonable level (under ~8psi or so), you don't really run the risk of major damage.

but if you do this, and find that it just isn't enough (and only you can know whether that'll be the case or not...), you are better off swapping now.

First off, thanks for the feedback so quickly. I guess it raises a few questoins...

1:Which injectors could I use in my '01 2.5?? Would injectors out of a WRX fit??

2:Where would be a good place to find a WRX motor?? I don't know if I'd trust a used motor. Mine may be crap, but at least I know what's happened/been done to it.

I guess in the end I'm not looking for a ton of gain. I know I'd have to build up the motor before I could see huge gains. I figured I'd keep the boost around 4 - 5 psi...

Well, thanks again for the responses.

Kelly also has a turbo RS.

Boosting a RS has the potential to give rather large gain (imo atleast) IIRC Kelly was throwing down close to if not slightly more than 200whp (getting close to stock STi numbers in a much lighter car).

You need to consider how you want to attack this. you can get a new crossmember and water pump and use all stock wrx/sti stuff or you can have a custom uppipe made and keep your stock crossmember and headers.

hmm.. battery dieing. check rs25.com in the turbo section theres lots of info there.
