Hey all, I've got a very good friend that works at Discount Steel in Minneapolis, and I wanted to pass along his contact informaiton to you guys as I have done for the rally community. If you need raw material or fabricated parts, he is a very good guy to work with. Just understand that he gets a lot of calls, so if you have to leave a voice mail or send an E-mail, he will get back to you. Just drop my name (TedMaximus) and he will do his best to hook you up. Thanks for posting this up Ted, I was gonna hit you up for his address since I'll be needing some skidplate material shortly.
My dad gets all his raw material from them. this is where I am planning on getting all the stuff for my brat from. I am glad you posted this up!!!!
RIGHT ON! I would suggest waiting until next week if possible. He is out of town on Vacation. If not, maybe next time. W3RD! -ted
I buy a few metal stuff from there. Haven't been there lately but I'm looking to make some bracing for my car.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he can. They can get, or make mostly anything. He will be back in his office on Monday, but he will be SWAMPED!!! I guess he had two computers crash on him last week, and even with his phone shut off, he had like 60 voice mails, and I didn't even ask how many E-mails. If you drop my name (TJ) he will do his best to bump you to the top of the list and give you a good price, but as any sales guy - he is going to have to take care of his BIG orders first. This will be temporary as he climbs out of the hole from being on vacation with his family.
hmmm, i think i will have to try to give him a call this week so i can make some sweet skid plates and strut bracing
:eek4: Umm yeah. The rollcage tubing for my car is costing me, well, a hell of a lot less than that. Depends though, mine is a 1.5"x0.095" cage for a Sentra, and the IIRA cage isn't as involved as some (like a rally cage would be). I told Mark what I wanted and he said "Oh, you'd be part of TJ's chess club then?"
Yeah we made a full 08 RA/FIA spec cage for our Golf. Its a figgen spider web of steel. Anyways bump for a great place to buy metal fab supplies!
If I didn't live in duluth, I'd be all over this, cause I have a lot of steel to buy for the 4runner still.
Trying to figure out how to transport 75-100' of tubing with just my truck. I think I'll stop there tomorrow morning and buy about 16' of square tube, and then weld that into a set of ladder racks (which I've wanted for a long time anyhow) and come back for the 24' sections on Thursday
Been there before. Great place to go if you need odd stuff or small bits. Plenty of already cut stuff/partials.
