Due to how common the failure of the EJ25D and early EJ251's have been, finding a replacement in a yard is becoming very difficult. I believe they are called Import Engine Parts in MPLS sells rebuilt short/long blocks at a decent price. Otherwise I would look into rebuilding it.

I would suggest talking to David Wray Automotive. They are a mainly Subaru shop in Buffalo. Mike Wray used to frequent these forums all the time and does great work at a decent price. Do you need just head gaskets or did it spin a bearing?

yeah the amount of work needed to be done would likely change how hard it'll be to get some help with it

$1200 for the SOHC. Give me a call at the shop if you want to discuss it. Ask for Jeremy
