I was going to start driving my "new" '98 Forester to work tomorrow, only to find it doesn't have a top anchor for a child seat. Didn't take long to find out this was an add-on accessory, and has been discontinued.

These were made standard in '00, BUT, those are different. I have a '00 parts car, and the anchor does not sit correctly. It has to be one for a 98 or 99 Forester, and many won't have them.

Here's the vague drawing in the instructions for them:

So please, if you have a 98 or 99 parts car around, or maybe you have a driver that you don't need child anchors in and you don't mind leaving a 10mm hole in your headliner. These were available in grey or beige....I don't care.

Are you supposed to be using a top anchor?

    Asking for a friend...

Depends on the seat. But every forward-facing seat we've had requires it.

Thanks, but the Impreza ones are in the rear wall right under the rear gate, only the Legacy wagons have them in the roof like the Foresters. Those ones are still available, so if I can't find the correct one, I might order one of those and take a look. But I would much rather find the correct one!
