The Land o’Lakes Region of the Sports Car Club of America has formed a new autosports club. The Snow States Autosports Club has been formed to serve the needs of events that are not sanctioned by SCCA. This will be a membership organization owned by LoL region but administered by a new board of directors.

SSAC Board Chair, Mark Utecht, states “This is a great opportunity for automotive enthusiasts to stay involved with the autosports community without necessarily joining SCCA. There are certain types of events that SCCA no longer sanctions and SSAC is there to fill the gapâ€Â. Vice Chair John Parizek remarks “SSAC is not coupled to individual sanctioning bodies, giving us the ability to provide events similar to those lost over past years.
Affordable membership offers entry level enthusiasts an opportunity to
join an autosports club focused on a variety of organized competition".

The SSAC Board consists of Chair Mark Utecht, Vice Chair John Parizek and Secretary/Treasurer Ardis Olson. Membership is $20.00 USD per family. However, to be eligible for any of the points championships, each person must have their own unique membership.

SSAC, NASA and VSCR will be co-sanctioning a road racing/HPDE (lapping) event at Brainerd International Raceway on Memorial Day weekend 2006. SSAC will also be supporting the Headwaters Rally in Park Rapids, MN on May 20, 2006 and the Shooting Star Rally in Mahnomen, MN on July 15, 2006.

Members of either LoL or SSAC will be eligible for all benefits of either organization including The Tonneau, invitation to all meetings and celebrations and eligibility for points in all championships within either club. SSAC only members will not receive any SCCA benefits like SportsCar magazine. SSAC will accept appropriate NASA, VSCR, Rally America and SCCA competition licenses.

For further information, contact Mark Utecht at [email protected] or visit the LoL website at http://www.scca-lol.org/ . Alternately, LoL Regional Executive Tom Fuehrer will be at Murray Motorsports on Sunday Feb 19, 2006 for the Daytona 500 party and can answer questions there. All LoL and SSAC members are invited to attend.

It means that when SCCA dropped stage rally and decertified BIR, LoL lost it's "normal" path for sanctioning it largest events. SCCA stated that LoL could pursue sanctioning events through other entities as long as it was clearly stated to all that the events were not SCCA events.

Now SCCA appears to be tightening their offer. SSAC is not affiliated with SCCA. We can do whatever we want with regards to sanctioning/supporting events without concern to what SCCA wants.

    Sorry for all the acronyms.
