Make sure you know what you are getting into. If you just want the power, that is easy on any wrx, particularly those with 2.5L engines. I found the suspension too stiff, particularly annoying on roads like hwy 100 (search for bobble head). The road and transmission noise is loud, though not too bad. The interior material quality is cheap, the seats are a joke, the carpet wears through in no time. I can excuse this on a wrx, but an sti should be better. Insurance will be high. My last complaint is the attention, the WRB and particularly the park bench on the back draw too much.

All that being said fast as hell, great engineering, lots of potential.

Edit: Forgot to mention the suspension goes from annoying in the summer to the belief that you have solid bars of steal rather than shocks and springs when it is -20 out.

I'm with Kosh on the WRX vs STi debate. When I got mine in December, I was wanting an STi pretty bad, but that extra 5g I saved can be used for upgrades I want. If you get an '06 or higher WRX, it will have the 2.5 and it's easy to get the same power, or close to it, with a few major mods (mostly turbo and exhaust, IIRC).

Test drove an '07 limited STi sedan (way out of my price range, but wanted to compare) and the suspension was definitely stiff, too stiff if you ask me for our wonderful bumpy roads. Plus, if you're thinking of rally-x down the road, you want softer suspension.

Welcome, I hope you find the car you are looking for. Talk to your insurance company about the cost for each car WRX vs. STI. Mine quoted me for both and the WRX was higher, because of the average age of the person that owns the car. I pay $114/month for full coverage $500 deductable, I don't think that is to bad seeing how I am 23 by the way that is on a 06 STI

    Welcome!

The seats, I don't agree with. I have had seat time in a bunch of different cars and these factory seats are not bad at all. Even though I have only had my car for about 2 months I have had a few road trips already. 1 day 10 hour road trip and quite a few weekend 4 hour trips and my butt was still happy. I have sat in a few other cars that I cannot say the same thing about. For example my friends Vett which was almost 3 times the amount of my WRX does not have nice seats compared to mine. His were leather, but not something I want to spend more than an hour in.

That being said, I already notice wear on my floor mats!

I have no knowledge of the STI seats. I was thinking more about seats in general.
