Ebay...$190 F/R slotted & drilled rotors shipped, SS brakelines $100, Hawks Pads F/R $70-$80 per pair, Motul Brake Fluid. You will Feel a huge Difference, no more spongy brake pedal...And still cheap enough upgrade. Stock WRX rotors alone are like $65-$75 a peice.

Nate is a good guy (WRxboy2003), I'd trust him doing my brakes, of course get all the parts first. When he starts talking about Fong, you know it is time to leave...

Honestly, I'd be a little leery of any Ebay brake components, especially drilled rotors. Drilled rotors, especially cheaper ones can be very prone to cracking and stress fatigue. For regular street driving, a slotted rotor is a better upgrade. Are you really heating your brakes to the point of fade? Depending on how much you want to spend, you can find basic rotors at somewhere like Brake and Equipment warehouse in Minneapolis for fairly cheap. They also carry Brembo OEM replacment rotors, so you can do a stock upgrade if you want. If you're looking for a cheap upgrade, you can switch to the H6 rear discs, you'll need new caliper brackets, those are around 56.00 each, but you'll pick up an inch bigger rotor in the rear (11.3 vs 10.3) and it helps with the brake bias. You still use the same caliper and everything. You'll just have to remove the rear dust cover, there is a big writeup on Scoobymods.com. Also, how many miles on the brakes do you have? You may just need new pads and you might be able to turn the rotors. If they've been turned already, then you'll most likely need new rotors. Another option (although it's a fair amount of $$$) would be to check out Diversified Cryogenics (www.frozenrotors.com) and you can get stock or slotted rotors through them. PM me if you have any other questions.

Also, +1 on stainless lines. They do make a difference in pedal feel. If you're looking for good fluid, check out either the Motul ($$$ for the really good stuff, not really needed unless the car is only on the track) or the ATE Superblue/Typ 200 fluids. They're the same rating, but one is blue and one is gold so you can tell when you've got the old stuff flushed out of your system. A cheaper option yet is the Ford blue HD brakefluid, apparently it's almost identical to the Superblue.

all good recommendations... I have the H-6 rears and they are great.. just ened the braided cables now...

as far as just doing a basic brake job, if you havent ground your rotors, (metal on metal) and just need pads, then pm me and I can take care of all that after hours... I can supply pads and probably rotors... I charge for installation (not much) and the parts I make maybe $5 a pad depending on teh cost as I am not out to rip of anyone in this club or in general.. if we do it through the shop it would be a bigger mark-up cause well we have bills to pay...

I just did brakes all round on 02blubru's WRX and Wicked1's (legacy) (I think)

pm me for pricing if you are interested and we can do it after hours and you can watch and chat and learn...

I just recommended the Ebay Rotors cuz it is cheap...and if your not running hard and just doing your daily driving it is good enough. I have them on my car and they work great for what I need them for. I only drive my WRX 3-4 times a month tops...And I do not run it hard, just ocassionally.
