I officially broke my "Subaru curse" and finally bought a non-Subaru!

...well kind of  at least the badge doesn't say Subaru. 2014 Scion FR-S.

Picked it up on Monday in Indiana, drove it back yesterday. I was feeling bored on the highway on the way home, until I came to a 25 mph clover leaf. I thought, what the heck, why not! Went around all 4 clovers, and I was holding darn near 60 by the 3rd and 4th time around...and that was on the stock suspension with crappy stock prius tires! My STI struggled to hold 55 with sticky summer tires and fully built suspension.

I'm loving the FR-S so far. Can't wait to drive it more!

Did you get it for a pretty good deal driving down there for it?

Lol definitely won't be "trenting" it.

I'm liking it a lot so far. I was concerned about the "lack" of power, but honestly, it is very responsive and plenty peppy. And I think it's gotten better...I'm pretty sure when the 80 year old retired gentleman that picked me up from the airport did me the favor of filling the tank...filled it with regular. Seems to have picked up some more power after running two full tanks of 93 octane..either that or my butt dyno is off.

I love that the car has everything I need, and nothing I don't. e.g. the awesome shifter, responsive steering/throttle/brakes, great Pioneer sound system with touch screen, knee padding on the door and center console, but no BS like steering wheel controls, automatic lights, lights for the mirror on the visor, etc. Seems like they saved weight where you don't need crap!

Yes. Seats are super comfy too. The BRZ seemed to like 91 Non-Oxy a lot too, could give that a spin too. I actually ind the radio to be very tedious, but the GPS is nice. Granted i only have the "premium" model sooooooooo there's that.

Right, that's because you have the garbage Subaru head unit :p The FRS comes with the Pioneer head unit and speakers (even on the 13 base models)...one of the many reasons why I chose the FRS.

Thhhhppppp fine be that way. Not going to lie, I like the FRS front better than Subarus...but oh well. That's what body kits are for.

Haha yep, even though they are the "same" car, there are quite a few differences. To each their own though, the FRS just fit what I was looking for. No hate on the BRZ's!

Oh I know these differences. I am the annoying person that corrects everyone when they say the are the same car.

Thanks! And no turbo or SC for this car. I learned my lesson with modding the crap out of the STI. Too much time and $$$$$$

    1. Thanks!
    2. I'll get there.
    3. That is very possible...if you look at my history, I don't tend to keep cars for more than ~3 years...

Yes, eventually I will go. The closest I got to being free was this past Tuesday and then a last minute change in my schedule stopped me.

There's generally at least one BRZ (cough cough) there.

Congrats! Beautiful ride! Looking forward to seeing where this one goes! The only thing that would make this look better is a FXT parked next to it ;)

Congrats! I'm also considering picking up a BRZ or FRS for my next car. Besides what you've mentioned above, what else about the FRS got you sold on it vs the BRZ?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but it is my understanding that there are only a few differences. The front grill, badge, and the wing (only available on the brz) are the only visual differences. The suspension setup is slightly different (I think the FRS was supposed to be stiffer in the rear and easier to oversteer?) and the interior options are different (sounds like the FRS has an optional better head unit).
Other than that the engine, tranny, exhaust, steering, brakes etc should all mechanically be the same.

Does the 2015+ FRS come with LED lights also now? I think that was one feature only the brz had over the frs when they came out

Mostly correct, except you can get the wing on the FRS (ahem, see mine).

Here is a great article that outlines the handling differences:
    http://www.onehotlap.com/2013/01/the-gt86-dilemma-fr-s-or-brz.html

The LED's are an option, but I don't recall what years/models they are available.
