I really did not want to buy another Subaru for the new daily driver. My top three priorities were comfort (leg room, etc), AWD, and nicer interior. I was pretty set on the Infiniti G37x, until I test drove one and realized the lack of space (front and rear leg room, trunk space, etc). I drove another Legacy 3.6R right after, and got suckered into buying another Subaru! So here it is, 2012 Legacy 3.6R Limited, only 16k miles. I'm very happy with the decision thus far, with the exception of the comfort of the front seats, but I think its just because my back is sore from working on the Saabaru to get it back to stock. Otherwise, the interior on the new Legacy is much nicer than the older Subaru's. This one is a limited so it has the Harman Kardon stereo, which is also much better than the typical Subaru. FWIW, I also test drove a 2014 Legacy Sport, and I honestly found the newer suspension (13+ legacy's are more firm) to be sort of harsh for that type of car. And the 2.5 with the CVT left some things to be desired. Plans for the Legacy? Not a damn thing! I want to leave this one alone and not mess with modding it. Ok...I might pick up some summer wheels and keep the stockers for winter. That's it! Pics: And a pic of the old Saabaru and the new leggy before taking the Saabaru on its death march to the junk yard
You should definitely get some Swift springs. I know a guy who will have some in spring/summer. Just sayin.
Famous last words...that is how it all begins as well. Congrats on the pickup. I've never driven an H6 equipped car before. Is there a noticeable difference from a turbo 2.5 or turbo 2.0?
Lol you're not helping! Thanks! And yes, there is definitely a very noticeable difference between the 3.6R and a 2.5 NA, 2.0 turbo and a 2.5 turbo. The 3.6R is very responsive and torquey, much more than even a 2.5 turbo. The 3.6R pulls well on the top end, but not as well as some other 6 cylinders (ie G37) nor the 2.5L turbo. Put a decent tune on a 2.5L turbo, and it will be darn near as responsive as the 3.6R and pull harder on the top end. Even comparing a 2.5NA to a 2.0 turbo...the 2.5 na is very responsive and pulls ok when compared to the laggy 2.0 turbo. I would actually almost rather DD a 2.5 NA than a 2.0 turbo. The 3.6 just has the power right there and it doesn't take much throttle to get up to speed and to maintain speed. It's quite fun when compared to a four banger (esp the leggy 2.5i with the CVT)...but obviously gas mileage suffers.
If you want some nice summer wheels and tires I'd hook you up with my stock rims and potenza s-04 tires I have on my brz.
I'll be looking for something bigger and more aggressive...these 5th gen's are huge. No, no, no, hmmm maybe? The 3.6R does sound pretty damn good with a catback...
Sway bar really is something for you to look at. If you do nothing else beyond wheels/rubber, sway bar is a fantastic upgrade. That's my pick if I could only do one mod. It's only a 16mm in there stock and as you said, this is not a petite car.
Stay stock, stay happy. one modifcation always leads to another. The next thing you know, you have a 450 hp Legacy.
Friendly reminder to change your signature Congrats on the new car! Welcome to the Legacy side of things.. Keep it comfy.. Like you said, the STI is there for the modbug
You could just do a resonator delete and leave the stock mufflers for a more throaty sound without getting too loud...
Just sayin... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/nj-nameless-perfor-muffler-deletes-220596.html
Ha I just saw this thread actually. I'd like to hear what they sound like, but as long as it isn't too loud in the cabin, those look like a good option.
Well yours will sound different since it's not a 2.5. But you can hear mine. Even on the wagon it's not too loud inside
