    Hello,

New member here, but not quite a Subie owner...Am in the process of deciding to buy something to replace my '04 Suburban. I need something to tow my boats and have looked at all the Crossovers/Mini SUV...the Outback seems to be the best choice for me.

After zeroing in on an Outback, Iquickly learned Subaru has a great following and found this site.

Have been lurking for a few days - love the site.

I have a few questions for y'all that I will post in another thread or two...

Thanks in advance for helping the newbie!!

Welcome to MN Subaru! A turbo outback would be a fine choice :)

Thanks guys! Still have not decided...am wavering between a OB Limited w/out Moonroof and a Rav4 Limited....may drive the CRV just to say I looked at everything, but worried if I introduce another one into the mix, I will never decide....

I've owned more than my fair share of Hondas and this year has brought me my first and second subaru. Don't get me wrong ill always love honda but I see why Subaru owners have a love affair with these cars! So many subaru owners have owned or own multiple Subaru's myself included. Good luck with your search!

Posted this in my thread on towing, but thought i would update here as well...

Well, I basically decided on the Outback yesterday. But, I also confirmed that the OB is only rated for 1,000 lbs if the trailer does not have brakes. The 2,700 lbs is for trailers with brakes only. This sucks....my boat trailer does not have them, and not sure it"s worth the effort. I don't think I have ever seen a single axle trailer with brakes...

May end up just driving the suburban into the ground and dealing with it later...maybe there may be a vehicle then that can tow what I need and get over 28 mpg. In a few years, as manufacturers move their cars towards meeting the looming CAFE standards it may just happen...
