So I bought my wife a new FXT this evening. It should be in town on Thursday evening. My homie jolson05 is driving it back from SLC for me! We're pretty stoked. I think I might be more excited than she is!

First thing she said is "Ooooo...I like that sport grille." That's trouble. She's the one that keeps my purchases in check (if you want to call it that). If she gets in to it, we're in trouble!!!:eek4::)

Does anyone know if the o8 STI exhaust will fit the o9 FXT? It looks like the muffler set up is different...

Oh SNAP! Pics to come...

You need the 08+ wrx SEDAN exhaust, and I have even found that those are hit and miss.

My father in law got kicked out by his wife for buying a 2010 FXT, he came over to my place right away we went for a spin, it is a nice ride. He complained that he couldn't hear the Turbo "turn on", I explained to him that that is kinda nice. he was allowed back home a few hours later.

Here are a couple pics. I haven't seen the car yet so the pics I have are those taken by other people.

We were a little worried about the color so we started searching for some modded FXTs. We found this gold one and really dug it. I love the ride height, but think the back needs to come down. Oh...this is gonna be fun. Don't tell the wife - oh wait, it's her car!

The biggest issue with lowering these is that if you drop the back end much more you will have severe ride issues. Unlike all the car chassis versions (impreza/lgt), the fxt has a straight upper control arm. So if you swap in wrx/sti take off's, it lowers it to the point where the upper control arm only has about a inch of space between the arm and the body. I dropped mine with swift springs and have been more than pleased with it. It was about a inch drop all around, then with the rims/tire setup I think it looks pretty good.

    Thanks...we appreciate it! :)

Good to know. There isn't a ton of information out there. I joined the forum as soon as I knew we were getting it to begin the whole mental mod process. I did run across the XTi which is much lower. Did they do coilovers and then the rest of the suspension parts (including the upper control arms) or is that a total custom suspension job?

LOVIN' IT! Compared to my 68HTA it feels like there is no turbo...but I'm diggin' it. The interior is pretty NICE! It looks good, rides well...at this point I'd give it an A. I'll buy another if I can't fit another car seat in the back of the WRX... :)

It was a blast to drive back from Utah, up and down the mountain roads with a breeze. Through the open highways of Wyoming, I promise I didn't open her up... Too much. ;) Through the Blackhills of South Dakota. Past the Badlands. I even passed a gray '07 STI in southern Minnesota. I didn't want to give it up. But I knew I had Memphis to come back home to. Too bad her battery was dead when I got home. That's what happens when it sits un-driven for over two weeks in cold Minnesota weather.

We chose the FXT over the outback because the rear sit reclines which allows for a better fit of child car seats. We only have one now, but the future may bring more. My legs are long and with the seat all the way back in the Outback, there wasn't much room behind the driver seat and the car seat. The FXT reclines for a better fit leaving a good 6-8 inches or more depending on where the seat is. No regrets!!!
