Been living in the Minneapolis area for 3 years now and just found out about this forum. I have been wanting a subaru for quite a few years now and am hoping to order a 2015/2016 wrx or sti this spring. Have been driving a 2002 pontiac grand prix SE for the last 10 years.
I don't know how you have driving a Pontiac Grand Prix for 10 years, I've Been driving my dads 03 Grand Prix for a month and want to drive it off a cliff. Welcome to the forum, there is a awesome red colored "15 wrx at morries Minnetonka
It is a bitter Love/Hate relationship, I hate the car but love driving and working on cars...which unfortunately is all repairs for the grand prix. It's also the SE version so it has the dumb'd down motor. Maybe I will post a picture of it when I get a chance. Looking to order a dgm this summer but the red does look sharp. Thanks for the welcome
What part of Uptown? I was in the LynLake area for a couple years and loved it. It's nice being able to walk to everything!! Welcome and GL with finding the right car when you're ready!! -Josh
Agreed, I saw the red one when I was there. Very sharp looking indeed. Good luck with your search. They are fun cars to own.
I'm in the Lyn lake area as well, on Pillsbury Ave. Really is nice being close to everything and the rent is cheap. Will probably end up ordering one, am patient enough to wait, really excited to get rid of the Pontiac.
Haven't had toppers yet, will have to check it out. Mostly enjoy going to herkimer for their burgers!
If they bring the FA motor to the sti in 2016 I will be getting that, otherwise a 2015 or 2016 wrx. Will probably sell the wrx once the sti gets a new motor though, just waiting to see what 2016 brings since it's so close.
Welcome to the forum and a belated welcome to Minneapolis. A bunch of us live very near/in Uptown. If you ever need help working on cars, feel free to reach out. There are plenty of helpful forum members on here. Most likely no FA motor in 2016. If you are mostly DDing, the WRX is a solid choice. DGM is one of the best colors available, I had an '11 WRX in DGM. Personally, I think the White looks awesome on the '15's(and I hate white cars) and I also really like the galaxy blue (see below). You might reach out to Scott Putnam, he is a salesman at Morries Minnetonka Subaru and a forum member here. Herkimer used to be really good, its gone down in the past few years. And you WOULD like Toppers...
Of course i would! What would you recommend? Galaxy pizza...Delanos...Pizza Luce(if you wear skinny jeans and a chain wallet)? For what it's worth, Mesa pizza is the best pizza in uptown period! And we can box about it if you'd like @Curry?
Mesa is not the best in Uptown, stop spreading lies. Red Savoy, Pizza Luce, Dulono's, Galactic Pizza, Punch Pizza just to name a few. I have my thick rim glasses and my skinny jeans are on high and tight.
I will definitely keep that in mind, sure I will have plenty of questions once I get my subaru. Normally travel 45 mins north because my uncle has a lift. I will mainly be DDing but also want to autox and take it to the track. Will also eventually want to do some modding so the STI platform has a better platform to start from. Also like what the FA is making with E85 tunes. Honestly looking for darker colors, my pontiac was light silver and I may forever hate any light colored cars because of it. That galaxy blue does look great, it really is a toss up between the DGM and blue. Will keep him in mind when I'm looking to order in late March
One thing to note. The stock WRX has the advantage at autox from what I understand. It has a really good multiplier and is fast as it is.
Will keep that in mind. When it comes down to it through whichever car puts the biggest grin on my face when I put it into the corner is what i'm looking for
If you see a new STI on a lot I would recommend asking for a test drive. They're very hard to find and you may not get another chance by the time you're ready to order. We have a few WRX's on our lot in Minnetonka but I haven't seen a single STI for the 1+ month I've been here. Mike
I agree, Scott Puttnam is the guy to talk to at Morries Minnetonka. Very knowledgeable and a great person to deal with.
Thanks will definitely keep that in mind, I didn't even considering test driving it, heard a lot of dealers didn't allow it. That's what I get for making assumptions. If the new motor was in the STI I would buy it without hesitating, really like what I hear about the FA though and the WRX will be a huge step up from my pontiac.
No, but if you want I can put a picture of each side by side. My opinion is that the DGM looks less rich of a color and its more popular.
Was in San Francisco last week and tried to find an sti to rent to get an idea of what i'd be buying. Unfortunately no one had any in the area so I rented a stage 3 m5 for the day to drive along highway 1.
Looks like info on the 2016 wrx and sti has finally been released, no new engine for the sti so will probably get a wrx premium. That should hopefully scratch my performance itch till the new engine comes for the STI. On the plus side the premium now comes with 18" wheels! Don't know if I can post this but I found it over on the clubwrx forums: Just released information from Subaru to us that I wanted to share with everyone! To give an idea of where I'm coming from here is my current ride which has held out well for the past 10 years: http://i.imgur.com/hob7XVN.jpg While I'm waiting for my wrx to come in I've put together a long list of intended mods over the next few years. sorted from first to get to last. clear bra cquartz auto dim mirror window tint rally armor aos-still researching how much the wrx needs this center console weather tech winter tires and rims radar detector winter tires and rims dash cam perrin shifter bushing and stop lighter crankshaft pulley led interior lights Hoping to do all these at once so I only need to pay once for tuning. cobb accessport nameless turboback 5" mufflers cold air intake TGV deletes 3 port boost controller
Anyone have any experience with IAG or crawford AOS? Trying to decide if I want to do a PCV delete or not. Seems like the best option is to just leave it in the system.
