Hey all, just picked up my first Subaru last weekend. Satin white 2013 hatch WRX. Couldn't be happier. May get a set of winter tires/rims and some tint in the near future, but other than that will probably stay pretty stock for a while. Any comments/ recommendations for a new owner would be greatly appreciated. ~Toast
Welcome to subaru ownership! You should immediately buy all of this to fit in: Hella Horns Rally Armor Mudflaps cold air intake downpipe blow off valve N1 Race exhaust Flat brim monster hat Start vaping, don't get a tune, rev engine at everything that moves, start saving for new motor and transmission
Well, at least the Rally Armors..."Couldn't be happier"-as soon as the tuning begins you'll get to see just how much happier a guy can be! Welcome to MNSubaru.
Came with some red Rally Armor mudflaps, so I'll check that one off the list. Honestly I think I'm going to change them out for a different style. Do I need to wear the hat forward or backward?
Welcome! I'm outside of Stewartville and daily commute my WRX to Roch for work. I'm old and have kids so I'm no fun anymore.
That's probably one of the biggest things I came here to learn about is tuning options and whether or not it will void my warranty.
You have what, 2 years left on your warranty? Any tune will void the warranty if, I'd let it run out, then if you don't go for the extended warranty start modding and tuning. Or say screw the warranty and start modding and tuning.
Welcome, looks like the SEMN crowd is growing. The thing about warranties and modifications is that the dealer is responsible for proving your modification caused a failure before dismissing your claim. That said, if your engine blows up and you flashed your ECU, it's immensely difficult for you to disprove it caused the failure. However, if you put new swaybars on and the transmission goes out, your swaybars are not a cause and the dealer would be legally required to uphold the warranty. Just keep that information in mind before you start working on your car. We used to do regular meets in Rochester at Binkie's or other places around town, would you new guys like to do something like that to get to know some of the OGs around town?
Most definitely sideways just a little bit to preserve the "swagger" you should have obtained when buying the vehicle.
Joe - that **** is a miracle in a can! Love me sum spam n eggs in the morning. Welcome powerdered toast man - good to see more people in SE MN. Im in Rochester quite a bit - maybe see ya around.
