    Hello all,

My name is Scott and I am a CAD drafter/designer at a machine shop in Lakeville, MN. Ive had my silver 02 wrx for about a year now (previous cars were 94 suzuki sidekick, 03 saturn vue, 97 F150) and its by far the best car Ive owned and I love it! Still stock as of now but plan on making changes when I get the cash ! Im new to the site but I like what I see. Ill be stopping by the autoX at the DCTC on sunday (watching not racing).

I used to work at Toro designing lawnmower parts, but moved to my new job about a year and a half ago. Since I work at a machine shop I mostly only design fixtures and tools. We mainly specialize in spinal implants (screws, plates ect.) but we also do some work for the natural gas industry, defense and few other things. Its a great facility, we have 11 swiss turning machines, 12 5-axis milling machines, a 3D printer (my new favorite toy!) and a few other assorted machines.

    What do you work on?

I design extrsuion tooling for the plastics industry. We design, manufacture and tune tools all on-site. I would love to have a 3-D printer. We have 7-wire EDM's 1-EDM sinker, 3 HASS VMC's and a Omax water jet, and variouse manual mills and lathes. You use Solidworks?

Unfortunately yes (SolidWorks 2010), I used to use Pro-E and I miss it. Ive found SolidWorks requires a lot more recources and crashes far more frequently. Im assuming thats what you're using too?

Yeah, I have a decently fast system (i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, Quadro FX 580, RAID hard drives) and its still bogs down sometimes.
