Hey all I am a new guy to this forum, obviously, but not a new guy to MN or to cars. Right now i have a green 96 impreza outback and a red 95 impreza coupe, for subarus. I also have a red 91 rx7 and a black and silver 05 gsx-r600. I am hopefully purchasing a jdm ver 6 sti front clip within the next week to start my coupe project.

That RX-7 is beautiful. I've always wanted a rotary engine.

Well since you ask I will put it nicely. LS1, wayyyyy overrated, not made to be in a mazda (I hate when people cross over company boundaries). The rotary is way too nice of an engine to get rid of, there doesn't need to be huge numbers to stomp the competition, they wind up so fast.

Welcome. 20b swap will be great, cant wait to see it.

Regarding your comment about crossbreading makes... meh. it not a classic restoration, most of the replacement parts are likely (or will eventually be) reman, and once you start going with aftermarket mods the line between original and not gets even blurier... says the guy getting ready to put a sbc 350 in a fox mustang lol

Mind you I have heard both the positive and negative of an ls1 etc. swap, and apparently that is a sore subject with you lol. Crossbreading...... is there really such a thing this day and age? Everything is made in Taiwan.

Not to derail this thread but thats my take on it as well. Metric and standard bolts, assembled in mexico, parts from all over the world, company logo is only stamped on a handful of parts and most of those are probably rebranded anyway. I say if youre building the car for you, then do what you need to do to meet your goals and enjoy the car.

Are you going to rally cross that red Impreza? I would be perfect for that... Welcome

I want to rally the red one. The wife says I have to save money and go with an RS build instead of an STI build... for now, so the red one as it sits is 1.8L Auto, hopefully in a couple months, after i find the Engine, Tranny, and ECU, it should be a 2.5RS minus the moonroof. anyone know if i can plug a 2.5L ECU into the 95 1.8L wiring harness, i don't think so because it jumps from OBD1 to OBD2, more sensors and allso i guess i get to rewire the car at least twice before i am gonna be more satisfied with my car. Hopefully going to run either an EJ207 or EJ257 someday.

Oh another reason not to go LS1, you throw the weight balance way off, 20B will throw it off a bit but not as much, and the 20B SCREAMS, mmmmmm, love the 3rotor.

I wasn't trying to be a butthead or anything I was merely saying what I feel, to each their own, for me I would rather have the smooth high revs of the rotary, with its low center of gravity and the engine quite literally being almost in the cockpit for the steering-like-it-is-on-rails feel. What I would really like to do is drop a 20B into a miata, that would be fun.
