Hey my name is Mike. I just bought a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT. I got it for cheap and put a new timing belt, water pump, radiator, and exhaust components. Im just about to finish all of that and start driving it. This will be my winter car/daily driver here is a pic...

The car has 250,000 miles on it. Could anyone tell me what I can expect to fix in the near future?

Now for my real car/project car I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GSX. If you are interested in reading about that check out my winter project thread on another bored...

once you see how reliable the suby is, you'll ditch the mitsu and start looking for a wrx swap

No offense to the people on this bored or any suby owner but honestly form my experience they are hard to work on and take alot of money to make fast. Plus the Spyder was my "dream" car and I got it and Im not gonna let it go :). But I have to admit I have only driven the car around the block(legacy) and it handled really nice and was a fun car to drive.

I won't argue with you on the cost of parts but I think you'd be surprised how well it handles the changes. My friend tried a Mitsu build and it nearly made him bankrupt. Even with the right blocks, they still have a tendency of nickel-and-diming you to death. Then again, if you know exactly what you're doing with a Mitsu, you will probably avoid that headache.

they do take alot of money to make fast thats for sure, at least in comparison to that 2.4L mitsu block, you would hafta be a retard to not make a ton of power. hard to work on? these cars are obsurdly easy to work on!

Well I did injectors and a turbo in a friend of mines WRX and it just took alot of work. Possibly because the tools were not up to par. But The one has been relativly easy to work on. I just got done washing, waxing and cleaning the interior.

There is not a car sold today that is as easy to work on as a Subaru. They have to be as they are rally cars. The WRC wrenches can change the tranny in 11min :eek3:

I pretty strongly disagree with that. Take a look in a modern toyota engine cabinet sometime.
