Hi, Up in Eveleth, MN...about an hour north of Duluth. Just purchased a 2002 WRX. Higher miles, body is dinged up but it runs and drives nice. It is just so different from my 3.0L swapped SVT Contour...having a hard time adjusting to shift points. :laugh: Just seeing what is up with everyone in here. Still on the fence if I want to hang on to this car or not.

I am slowly working my way threw all the stuff on multiple sites. Car has 179500 miles on it...and I have been reading some horror stories about people and things they have had to deal with. I am just paranoid, I guess. Like I said, I knew SVT Contours like the back of my hand...I knew what to look out for etc. The WRX is completely different. The wife has had a couple Subarus, a 1996 impreza outback with 220,000 miles when we sold it and a 2000 Legacy GT Wagon. The 96 was a work horse that didn't want to die. That was one of the reasons why I bought the WRX...because I know they should be able to get up there in miles. I plan on keeping it stock as a DD, so no crazy mods for me. I just worry that it might have been beat on....physically, like I said the body is dinged up, but the engine does run real smooth and the tranny shifts great. I have been doing brake work on it and swapping out the front sway bar end links. I just don't get why subaru used such thin metal on this car.
your situation is very similar to mine. I had a Mazdaspeed Protege for 6 years and I got to know all the problem oddities of that particular car. I bought an 02 wrx this past year and it is high miles w/dings. I love it, but don't know anything about the oddities/engine of the car.
I was looking for one of those as well, but nothing is in this state lol. Speed6's were just out of my reach as well. I really wanted a Fusion AWD V6 but no manuals.
I did notice I didn't see the car leaving at 4:30 anymore on the way out to my car lol. Wanted to see what the 3.0L would have done against it.
And I am also used to the other forums. No one was ever with in 250 miles of me....so this is kind of refreshing. Also, if anyone goes to www.contour.org I am a very well respected member over there. You can tell by the title they gave me lol
