Hey everybody! Just dropping in to say hi. Picked up an 01 Legacy Outback Limited about a month ago for cheap. Day after I bought it it wouldn't start due to corroded coil terminals. Then the next day the alternater went. And it has been in the shop for repairs since. But with 232k miles I'm not terribly surprised by any of that haha. I live in Paynesville and am definitely a Ford guy through and through but have always had a slight interest in Subaru. My mother used to have an old Loyale wagon and that was a good car. I used to have a Taurus wagon and loved the utility of it, I'm often hauling around engines, transmissions, and other random car parts so an Outback Wagon just fit. This one is basically going to be my winter car, but as the past has revealed I cannot leave cars stock, even the most mundane variety. I currently have the Outback, an 00 Mercury Sable, an 02 Mercury Cougar, 83 Ranger, 89 Taurus SHO, and a 97 Contour w/matching trailer. I went to school for auto service and finished with top marks and am now continuing onto Auto Body which I am nearly done with, again with top marks. I like unique things and never try to do things the same as others, which might explain the odd cars that I modify. Here are the 3 important ones! The Outback. It's in the shop right now to repair the damage you see. Previous owner said his daughter hit a few trees right after getting her license. My sable, its dropped about 2" in front and about 1" in back. Sits on 18" BBS 2 piece Jaguar X-type rims. And has plenty of other stuff done to it as well. And I ditched the LEDs don't worry. And my cougar, this one has a ton of stuff done to it. It has a 3.0L (stock in 2.5) with 2.5L SVT heads, headers, trubendz catback with Magnaflow Mufflers, extrude honed intake, svt oil cooler and dual core radiator, quaife torque biasing diff, euro suspension, voodoo shift knob, and plenty more. Hope to have a good stay here and maybe make it to a meet or two if you don't mind a slow Cougar or even slower Outback lol
Thanks everyone! Hopefully getting the car back on the road by the end of January, I'm excited to try out the AWD
Not much to figure out.. It's slippin bad. lol I'm saving up for a clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and a lightweight flywheel.
Hydraulic or cable operated? I thought maybe you had a cable seize up on you or something, then i realized i don't even know what kind of system Subaru uses..
Welcome sir. Wait till some fresh snow hits the roads and you're out there in your Subaru, you will be a happy camper.
