    Howdy all,

I've been stalking the forums for a while now but haven't posted anything. I recently traded my IS300 for an '08 WRX. It was time to get rid of the old Lexus and move on to something my wife can also drive during winter.

Anyhow, I have a question for all you folks. I was wondering if any of you have seen this WRX in the past? It came with a Magnaflow CBE and was traded by the second owner to Morrie's BP. I had Morrie's check the service records but nothing showed up. I just wanted some history on the car so know what I need to do in regards to maintenance. There were some Perrin stickers on the rear windows but as far as I can tell, there are no Perrin parts installed.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

Welcome to the site. Off hand I can't think of any 08 White Sedan owners that were on this forum. It is possible that the previous owner returned the car to "stock".... which typically means that they would take off parts, like the Perrin parts you are looking for and replace them with OEM parts. Then they sell off the aftermarket parts online and trade the car in as a "Stock WRX". Again, this is possible but we have nothing to go on without looking at your car or knowing the previous owner. It is also possible that they picked up a $10 sticker online and never had Perrin parts.

Either way, welcome to the site and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Thank you sir. Coming up on the 60k maintenance so gotta take care of that real soon. But I'm excited. I have the Tactrix cable in the mail and picked up the Torqued Performance stage 1 map. Got a used Perrin CAI from another forum. Pardon my ricey-ness but I just wanted to hear the BPV :p

The tune and CAI will be going on this weekend!

I am looking forward to enjoying this car.

Welcome to MNSubaru.com! PM Nuke if you are looking for a tune, he has tuned most of the members cars on here, including my car, and knows what he is doing. If you are questioning if your car has undergone a "back to stock sale" take a look at the down pipe coming off of the turbo to see if there is a stock heat shield on it. Most people are too lazy to put the heat shields back on. Let us know if you have any questions and try to make it out to one of the many meets that we have.

They might have the top heat shield, but not the other two pieces.

We do have a better than normal tuning community here, so you don't have to rely on a generic tune over the internet. You could get a better tune for the similar amount of money. This means better chances of a longer living engine.

    Thanks BroCo and ofspunk.

I just wasn't sure if I wanted to do a custom tune at this point with these limited mods. I figured the OTS map would be ok.

Yeah, take a few photos inside the engine bay. That can help point out any mods or previous mods. I highly suggest a Nuke tune over an OTS one.

Get a stage 1 tune with your intake and you will be very happy. When you are ready, pick up a down pipe and a cat back exhaust, get it re-tuned and enjoy!

Car has the Magnaflow CBE so really only missing a downpipe for basic stage 2. However I wanted to enjoy the modding process. Stage 1 for now. Suspension next, then more engine stuff later.

    Btw I just contacted Nuke.

Thanks all. I'll check out the downpipe and heat shields and post some engine shots.

Yeah I wouldn't ever worry about that. I have no idea what your internet map will cost but NF is worth every penny. It's better to have a tune specific for your car vs a generic tune any day.

+1 for what Ben said. Snap a few pics (from different angles) of the engine bay. We might be able to tell... or just pop your hood when you see Nuke. He'll want to clean your MAF sensor anyways. :uhhuh:

There was a white 08 up in Duluth for a while with either Cobb or Perrin stickers... He would have been the second owner of the car irrc..

Do you happen to know where it was purchased from before traded in?

Just a quick update fellas. I contacted Nuke but he said there wouldn't be much gains for a stage 1 tune so I decided to contact him after I get a DP. I ended up getting a tune from Eric at Torque Performance. He helped dialed in the Perrin CAI I installed. Poking around my engine bay, everything looked stock, so the previous owner must've just put on the CBE.

Anyhow, the car runs pretty good now. I can't wait to get a DP and connect with Nuke. But that will be next spring. Now I gotta focus on my 60k maintenance, which I've decided to do myself as I've already installed the plugs this past weekend (it was pretty challenging due to limited space but not too bad). Next up, suspension. Modding is so addicting... Looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

Here's my log, if anyone cares :)
