I got this Miata three months ago from local autox owner and have finally brought it back to life. Replaced timing, accesory belts, radiator with new hoses, spark plugs and wires, intake, exhaust, rear differensial, shocks, springs, brakes, all fluids and some other miscellaneous stuff. This car will see a lot of autox tracks and occational daily driving. It's very slow but handles like it's on rails. Will see what happens next year but I am starving for power. Here are some pics. And it's not a girly car anymore. P.S. There is a Subaru in the backround so it's not just a random pictures
False Congrats! Enjoy it! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun in it and it sounds like you're already getting over the worst thing about miata ownership... the fact that it's a miata.
I would have one for my summer car also, if I could get over said fact. Hence me wanting a Solstice/Sky.
Hey! it's phil's old car! Meg the Miata! do yourself a favor, and find a new oem hood.... that one's steel, stock is AL.. add's some dead weight to the front.
Or you could do the trendy thing and just polish it... Oh, and lose the style bar. Just excess weight and won't do squat in a rollover except maybe mousetrap your noggin.
Bah. Get a base Sky and you can still do wonderful things with the ECOTEC. Have you read GM's ECOTEC build book?
It sure is Phil's old car. He sold me a "lemon". I had to do a lot of extra work before I could drive it.
That is what Taras was telling everyone with a NA car at MOWOG3 including the Ferrari. I'd put a V8 in it.
Nah, you want to keep the weight balance close to 50/50, a well done turbo kit adds minimal weight to the front.
I see turbo or supercharger in the near future, but not right now. Taras's Miata is pretty cool and quick, I would not mind 200whp little monster
That would indeed be a very very fun little car- I've often considered a Miata myself, but the WRX was a much more practical buy (in good old Minnesota). Some day-
Wasn't his car broken down for almost all of MOWOG 1? hottcarl ftw. I lul'd. I would highly suggest keeping the car NA for as long as it takes to acclimate to the car. Even in stock trim, there is a lot of overhead in the capability of a Miata. Get comfortable with it before you drop a lot of power into a car that you can't handle.
I would talk to ZERO, he has a 12 second maita that he has been working on for the past 10 years. I am sure he could help you out with any dos and don'ts for that car.
You should check his phone for sale thread there. http://www.mnautox.com/forums/showt...ts-At-amp-t-3G&p=167703&viewfull=1#post167703 I have no experience but one kit manufacturer claims otherwise: http://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/ I think Lee's is the one to model after. It sure flys and sounds very angry. Tara was elbow deep in it at MOWOG 1 but it did just fine at MOWOG 3 that I could tell.
Interesting. I guess done right a LS1 could be a pretty nasty little car. Going with a turbo is still going to provide the lighter car though. All in what you are looking for in the car I suppose-
