I have done two major maintenance projects on my car in the last year with RS. First was the timing belt and everything that goes with it (belts, h20 pump, gaskets, crank pulley, etc.) and they knocked it out of the park. Silly me, I thought there might be a leak. I brought it back and they pressure tested and re-cleaned up everything. It was nothing more than a bit of spilled coolant burning off. No big deal. They explained it and were right. Mud on my face. Second was last week, they did a clutch job for me. My luck (their luck) the first bolt to come off... broke. Who's fault is that? NO ONE's fault. **** happens. You know what happened next? He kept on trucking. He fixed it. He hit my very hard deadline. He was a champ. He communicated with me the problems and solutions the whole way. The end result? I got my car back after 8 hours and made it to my ski race and wasn't late. The **** he dealt with? Apparently, the tranny didn't want to separate from the block, the bolt in the turbo broke, the exhaust had a burnt donut gasket, bolts were broken in the exhaust... maybe a couple other things. When I got it back? after 5pm on a Friday, everyone there was on hand to welcome me and make sure I was happy. Hand shaking, thanking for my business, smiles and guess what.... I'll be back. My car drives like new again. Thanks Ron. Oh, and thanks for sending me pics of the carnage. Sorry you had to deal with that crap. *edit* Oh one more thing. They opened their doors before the posted time to take my car in. They were still moving stuff around to accept my car when I got there. I was there when they said they were ready. They were ready, when I was there.
Glad you had a good exchange with them. It sounds like Ron is getting things in order because this is pretty far off from my experiences in the past. I like Ron and the shop, just wish I could get consistent experiences (mainly in turn around time). As far as the **** they faced, transmissions never want to separate from the block, 90% of exhaust bolts break (especially where the downpipe meets the catback and turbo bolts are the same due to the crazy heat cycles they face. Anyway I hope to see more good reviews of RS, they're the only shop in town I remotely trust.
Awesome! Shout out to Ron and his team. They have bent over backwards for me and worked on my car after hours to get me up and running.
agreed Ron and his shop are legit. They have done numerous things for me and have walked me through and explained every one of them.
They did a great job on my red 02 wagon when it went in for a timing belt and ended up needing a whole lot more. Awesome group of guys to work with.
+1 for ron, and not just subaru. I took him my 350z this summer when i was having oil pressure problems. he wound up elbow deep in my engine, got her back together, and she's runnin like a champ. Pictures every step of the way.
