This popped up on STI's FB page which I am not even sure is legit. But for fun's sake let's see what people think. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1335344543160898&id=128303837198314
They won't be competitive with 2.0L. It's just too little displacement against the current market. They need to stick with the 2.5L displacement if they would like to remain a competitive choice. Frankly I wish they'd toss a boosted H6 in the thing and play the Porsche game, but they focus primarily on lightness which keeps the engine choice small. Just don't go too small or you won't have a product to compete with.
I figure I will own a Subaru at some point with a boosted H6, and it will be paired to a STI 6-speed...LIKE GOD INTENDED!
With Subaru of America's track record, IF they bring it to this country it will probably be available only with a CVT.
