I put this up on mnsc too, but it seems like there are more craft beer drinkers on here. Thought I'd give ya a heads on on summits first borderline exceptional brew. This just came out yesterday, but by the time I made it to the stores, they had sold out. Today it was re-stocked at a few locations. www.summitbrewing.com Beer specs: Malts used: Two row pale, caramel, cara-red, wheat and black Hops used: Horizon, Amarillo, Cascades and Summit Original Gravity: 13.3 degrees Plato Bittering Units: 65 to 70 Alcohol by volume: 5.7% Color: 20 Lovibond My review from Beeradvocate. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/467/49279
I dont consider myself a beer expert, but I consider myself a tad better then a mich golden light humping tard....I'm really into redhook ESB.
Mmm, I like Summit broadening their lineup. I really do like their EPA. I'll pick some of this up and report .
Interesting, Duluth seems to always be behind times when it comes to new'er' beers.. will have to check it out later this week. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/13014/36672 pretty sure thats my spring/summer beer of choice though, plus I just found somewhere that sells it up here.
Zipp's on Franklin has one 6 pack left, mine is on hold already... They will hold it if you call 612-333-8686! They had 2 total when I called like 3 minutes ago.
I'll look for it but for the record if any of my fellow MNSOC beer drinking compadres ever catch me seriously describing a beer like the quote from Beer Advocate in the OP you hereby have the right, no, obligation, to immediately and savagely beat me with a claw hammer and/or tire iron. "...slowly recedes (sic) leaving a good webbing of sticky lace..." Orly? Is he describing beer or Spider Man's money shot? Kee-ryst.
Ah yes, reminds me why I stopped caring about beeradvocate reviews. The color of the head matters more to most of those fools than the taste of the damn beer. I'm just as much a snob when it comes to beer as anybody else but I agree with Soupboy, that kind of stuff just make me nauseous.
Beer makes you nauseous? You and me both pal, after about 20 or so. I'm by no means a snob about beer, you can drink whatever the fawk you want. Yea it left a webbing of lace. Hence the web comparison. I've been brewing for several years and like to document the different beers I have through Beeradvocate for future reference for myself.
Its about time Summit stepped up to the plate with something that doesnt taste like everything else they make. Much hoppier than their IPA. Lets hope they continue to dabble into some more adventurous brews. The Four Firkins has plenty of this and it should be in most stores soon enough.
They have it at the Summit Brewery. I was there over the weekend to pick up my SP Saints season tickets and sampled it. It was ok for me but I'll stick to EPA and Oatmeal Stout.
I'm drinking a barrel House Red Legg Ale right now that's really good, never had it before. Going to be getting some more of this one for sure.
Just digging into a Southern Tier Unearthly after a few PBRs post mountain bike ride. The only sticky web is in my pants.
mmmm... mountain bike ride.... On a side note, the Wisconsin Scottish Ale from Sand Creek I had this evening was very tasty.
