Maxxis has been developing a new high performance street tire and it has just been released in limited sizing. They are hoping to develop more sizes as demand warrants, but the price point of $160.00 per tire for a 255/40/17 is good enough to give them a try. The early reviews, (I have an inside guy ;) ) they may not be at the pointy end of the stick for autocross, but are looking to be very good for endurance racing and occasional PDX days.
I'll let you know as I get them in hand and some miles on them.

Curious how wide the tread width will be. The tire looks a little stretched in their photo, but it looks like it's just the same photo for all sizes and I don't know what size wheel it's on.

I'm curious how you'll like them. Not as cheap as the Federal's, but a lot cheaper than some others. It will be interesting to see how they turn out.

They just released a 265/35ZR18 and should be available for purchase tomorrow. This gives them enough sizes to be legal for SCCA competition.
Xluben, I think the stock photo is a 245/40ZR/15 on a 10x15 inch wheel. This is what a lot of the pictures I have been seeing re of.
