Hello all, I am a long-time Subaru owner (98 2.5RS, 94 Impreza Wagon, 02 WRX) that just picked up a 2004 FXT a few weeks back, from MNSubaru actually. My most recent WRX started showing its age and so I decided that rather than starting to put real money into it, I would upgrade to something that I have had my eye on for years. Since I knew that my next car purchase would be my biggest I had a few specifics in mind: 03-05 turbo, 5-speed, clean title, clean body/drivetrain, rust-free, preferably in gold or white. After about 6 months of run-around through different dealers this Fozzy popped up on the F/S section and long story short I made the trip to the cities to pick her up. It was a Texas car for 95% of its life and is clean as a whistle underneath, clean title, great looking exterior and interior, and just an all together well looked-after car. The only compromise I made was the mileage, I was looking for something with 60-80K and ended up with 103K which all in all isn't too bad especially since the owner before me invested in all the major 100k maintenance items including timing belt, waterpump, rebuilt turbo, pulley's, gaskets, etc. Besides a full Turbo XS exhaust, AP2, and some crappy audio equipment (on its way out) it is stock. I'm planning on a lower-budget wheel setup (Drag Dr-31, Extreme Contact DWS, ? Adjustable coils) for the Spring along with some other suspension and mild engine upgrades to come. Keep a lookout for a mild build thread in the future! -Art
Congrats on the purchase! I really liked this car as soon as I saw it in the FS thread. It's great to hear that it stayed in the MNSubaru community! Enjoy the new ride!
When it was posted I said somebody would be getting a very nice car, looks like you're that somebody. Congrats!
Looks good! I'm leaning towards a turbo fozzy as my next subaru as well. The wife digs them too, which helps alot
Thanks guys, to those thinking about picking one up prepare to have some patience. The older turbo models (03-05) are becoming more afforadable and don't stay on sale very long. So far I've really been enjoying the car-like feel for everyday driving but also having the option of some cargo room for traveling and hauling my dog around (the big guy in the attached pic). I'm excited to get it out of winter mode and tighten up the handling a bit soon.
@petrakov08 at the moment I picked up an stock 04 FXT w/100k on it. Im not quite sure what I have planned for it but at the moment I will for sure be doing suspension first.
