Hi, I'm in the process of buying a member's 2005 "nicely modified" LGT. :)

I'm currently driving a 2008 C63 AMG (which is definitely for sale). I've decided to go back to my roots and get a car that I can mod and personalize and that doesn't have expensive parts.

I'm new to Subaru but not new to modified cars.

Some of my recent cars were:

2008 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG stock - holy smokes this car is fast for RWD
2008 Infiniti G35x (sway bars, struts) - this car is when I fell in love with AWD
1997 Buick Regal GS (upgraded suspension, exhaust, cold air, brakes, ecu, intake, interior)
1999 Mustang SVT Cobra (upgraded suspension, cold air intake, 4.10 gears, tremec tk3650 trans) - loved the IRS
    1996 Mustang SVT Cobra (stock)
(before this was pretty much a mix of mustangs and cars that aren't worth mentioning)

You never should have let go of the Regal...I don't think I could ever let a C63 AMG go. I love those things. Welcome to the site!

Welcome JimC. Me, I'm moving toward Mustangs. That's where the cheap parts are. And mullets too. I for sure want one of those. I hear the brakes on those AMGs are really the boss.

My wife has told me the same thing about that Regal, quite a few times :)

I'll definitely miss the C63's finesse and exhaust, but I won't miss the note!

They're 6 piston caliper in front and 4 piston in rear. I've never actually pressed them as hard as I could. They're the best brakes I've ever felt.

That car was very fun to drive, but I'm looking forward to this "traction" thing that I've been hearing about!

Welcome. Just saving you from the used Audi market. They catch on fire. Free oil changes, of course. I'll break in oil and filters in mine first and then you get them...

Cheap parts only in relation to Mercedes. Yeesh, almost $600 for a single cat downpipe? Are they made of printer toner?

welcome and yes, legacy parts are pretty expensive imo..not as common of a car so parts are harder to find.

    Amusing fact time.

My insurance is more expensive for the Legacy than the C63 AMG.

    It's not a massive difference.
    Bodily Injury Limits 250K/500K - $77.75 AMG, $90.75 Subaru
Property Damage Limit 100K: $34.00 AMG, $39.00 Subaru
PIP Stacking: AMG: $45.00, Subaru $77.00
    Uninsured/Underinsured Bodily Injury 250K/500K: $13.00 AMG, $22.00 Subaru

Six month premium: $169.75 AMG, $228.75 Subaru.

What have you folks been doing before I got here?

Not too surprising. Less likely to see an AMG wrapped around a tree by a flat-brimmer. In a similar vein, I remember being surprised that my STi was less to insure than my civic. But if I had a WRX it would have been more.

    Oh, and welcome!

Haha those insurance face are just silly! Go without it, that's what most of us badass Subaru owners do, because we're badass. ;)

    Thinks are looking up.

Posted some "after detailing" pictures on facebook and I think the C63 will sell this week.

My wife has already started calling this LGT "The First Lady". Is that a good sign?

As long as she doesn't start calling it "The Other Woman" you're good to go. :) One of my previous cars got that nickname and it was soon gone from the garage...

Now the proud owner of John's Legacy GT Limited!

Thanks to Retreif for telling me about this car.

Avg mileage was 35 or higher when I picked it up. Down to 27 now and dropping like a rock. :)

Now to get this C63 sold..

Thanks to Nuke & Fuji for the compression test and the chance to hang at their shop for a bit today. A local shop "tested" the motor last week and came up with 95psi across the board. Today we got 132/133/133/132. I'm gonna get my money back.

Have a blast w/The First Lady, Jim. :)

I've been having a blast zooming round town with this car.

Pro tip: when selling your old car, don't take that person for a ride in your new one. ;)

I want to officially go "on-record" as saying that I was incorrect with the "cheap parts" reference.

Sure, the parts look cheap until you add on every single replacement bracket and link and other part you need.

Do NOT tell my wife I'm capable of admitting when I'm .. mistaken. She'll see it as a sign of weakness and rip out my spine and eat it.
