Hi all, just picked up my first Subaru...and my first manual, ever. If you see a silver Crosstrek lurching about anywhere on the west side of the 494 loop...it's probably me :D

Always wanted a manual car but out of all the cars I've ever had the only ones that were ever even offered in a manual were the Jeeps I had, and I had them in automatic, anyway. It was probably stupid to learn in a new car, but hey...you buy the ticket, you take the ride, and we only go around on this ride once.

Anyway, nice to be here, and I have a bunch of reading up to do

Welcome! 169s has been a mess lately, so I've been running 494 south from Rockford to Valley View every afternoon around 5 in my '12 DGM Impreza manual on bronze wheels. I keep an eye out.

Yeah I come in from US12/394 into the area that way. Fortunately, the hours I come in and go home, there's not much in the way of traffic, so if I stall...it's not the end of the world. Though now I really hate the light at Plymouth and the frontage road on the north side of 394...that light is so short. Funny, I didn't notice it when I wasn't trying to learn how to drive a manual...oh well.
