The Evo has been electronically limited as to many rev's are available for launching. But it was pretty cool seeing those guys launch the STI at 7k. yikes!

indeed the evos were all over the place. guess that electronic brain isnt as good as its cracked up to be. 3 LSDs always seem to work out pretty well.

I remember a quote from comedian Ron White... You can't fix stupid.

I think if they switched drivers, the result would different...
The Evo driver wasn't smooth at all.

If that was a best motoring test, then both the drivers were probably very qualified (JGTC).

Are you serious?! Dude has mad (jdm) skillz

word. both good drivers. both comfortable with the cars (as they both explained in the pre-test interviews)

Here's my evo 10/ sti hatch post slalom convo translation:

sti driver: I didn't hit any pylons!

[evo driver laughs] ...probably because sti driver was making fun of himself earlier. Saying how he remembers hitting a load of cones in the 07 the first time around (last year I'm guessing)

sti driver: No no no. What that means is that the feedback is really good (literally: the car's handling characteristics are very easy to understand). You can choose the line precisely... so without knocking over any pylons, I could quickly...

evo driver: It was the opposite for me! The response was too forced. [mumble mumble mumble... ] I started to feel the line but the response just wasnt there. Like the front just wasnt hooking.

    ending remarks:

Evo driver: The new model lacks in the slalom and lane change. The evo ix is better. The new model has the handling capabilities but feels heavy in the front. It feels like you have to really let the weight settle before making an abrupt change in direction.

STi driver: The impreza is opposite. Getting in both of them and having to describe how they're different, this one (the new model) feels softer. Usually, when a car feels softer, I expect the lane change and slalom to be harder, but the line was clean and the turn in was very crisp. Being able to easily get on the line and feel the rear tuck in and settle and having the front end not let go of the line was nice (in the new model).

My brother inlaw just traded his 07 Spec B for the 08 STI, so I'm looking forward to taking it to our next DCTC in April for my own testing. I'll make sure to test out the new SI settings and post up my own review. LOL I'll invite you guys if you're interested.

Are you trying to be funny, I can't imagine a 3.0 ltr 4 cyclinder. Are you sure its not a 6cyclinder? Thats pretty crazy, I didn't see it in the latest BMW when they did the 5 lap. It would be interesting to see.

No I'm not kidding. I pretty sure it was a typo but yeah. Just received the new issue today! Called "The Style Issue" with a Scion xA on the front cover.
