Along with converting everything over to the new platform, we are give some opportunities for making some changes. 1. User titles. Currently we have the rally/race team theme that is based off of post count. I can transfer this over to the new site, or we can move this in a different direction. I know there was some hostility with the rally side of it, and now is your chance to put in your .02 on what you would like to see. These can be based off of post count or user trophy points 2. User trophies. This will be a new feature that XF brings to the table. Each trophy rewards the user with a certain number of points. Basically trophies are awarded based of a few different criteria. User posts, registration date, likes/thanks, and number of trophy points. With those points, we can create user titles and reward the active members. Currently there are a few generic ones, but this is something that we can modify to suit our needs. Here is the fun part. I am going to make this into a bit of a contest. I am willing to pay $25 per option. If there is more than 1 entry for each option, the mod group reserves the right to vote on which version they like best. I am going to leave this contest open for the next 2 weeks. So I will shut it down and choose the winner Aug 5-6-7 (one of those days based off of my time). I am also going to sweeten the pot a bit. If you can come up with a trophy point system and a user title system based off of trophy points, I will bump the total winnings to $80. I will answer any questions as best as I can. I will also try and get a couple of screen shots of the trophy point setup page so you get a idea on how they would get set up. Here are a couple of the screen shots to see what we are working with. This is the current list of trophies. You can see the in the light grey text how many points each trophy is worth. This is the trophy setup page. This is what is required to receive the trophy points. This is the user title page. You will receive these user titles based off of trophy points. So what we can do, is base user titles off of user contributions to the site not just posts. This system will allow us to reward the old timers and the members that contribute good/helpful information to the community and give them user titles to display such. Thanks again Russ

^ I agree, actually the race team titles are much compatible with a car forum...alternatively you can maybe switch the titles to some sort of driver categories for example, amature driver,junior driver, senior driver, professional driver, instructor.
I'm fine with whatever you come up with, but one thing I would REALLY like to see is quoting automatically built into PM's. The way that "Quick Reply" is currently set up means that I will often send a long-ish reply, and then have someone reply and all it will say is "OK, thanks. Now what?", or something equally vague. Then I have to go back and look at the last PM he sent me and try to deduce what he is talking about. Making matters worse is that Sent messages are turned off by default. I know I could turn them on, but I always forget, and even if I do have them on it means I have to do many, many mouse clicks to piece together a long conversation. Ideally I'd love to have threaded PM's (like GMail or a normal forum post), but I know with some forum software this is quite difficult. Nearly as useful is simply having all the previous messages from the conversation quoted in the PM. It makes it easy to read back through past messages. This is especially useful if trying to haggle on price in a sale. Thanks for your consideration. PS. I also think that having a cash prize (as listed in the OP) is a bit silly considering how the site has been raising money via donation. I think it would be more beneficial to use any money to keep the site up and running instead of trying to think of new user titles. This is just my opinion. Please do not take offense if you do not agree, I'm just trying to throw out suggestions.

The cash prize was coming out of my pocket, not website funds. Those go towards hosting/swag/MNSubaru events (if we ever get a event planner on board). I will dig into the PM system a bit more on XF, but I do know it is quite a bit different than the VB system. Russ

lolwat? So MNSubaru IS on the internet and you DO need the internet to get to MNSubaru. So how would a phone app allow you to get onto MNSubaru without using the internet?? Also, Tapatalk is installed on the site. That is a app for both Android and Ios, but you still need to get on the internet for it to work. And if you think you can just download everything that is on mnsubaru, good luck. The current database is over 620mb on top of all the software you would need to run to make the site work offline (close to 5gb). Russ
