Alright, so I picked up a set of Gunmetal 18x9 + 35 rota G-Force's w/ 255/35/18 nitto nt555's and installed them last week. I think that I like the way that they look but am still on the fence. They rub a little and will require some additional fender rolling to make them fit. I will not to with a smaller tire and refuse to adjust camber for looks (right now the car is setup on a street/track aligment -2.5* front and -1.4 rear). Before I get crazy with the fender roller let me know your thoughts and be honest. Thanks everyone!
not bad. i run 255's on my 17x9 +38 on my wagon. However my fenders are heavily pulled. 2.5° front and 2.0° rear
So how long until someone on here is running dubs? Jus wonderin. IMO, leave the 9-10" wide tires to the domestics...Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes. Oh, and Jason's Z. How hard/heavy is it to turn the steering wheel? It looks good and all, just don't understand what's wrong with a good ol set of 17x8's?
10" wheels on a GD are to wide imo, I think a 9" fits just right, these just have a little more offset than I was hoping. This wheel tire package is way easier to turn and drive than when the car had stock BBS wheels w 225 V710's. The 225's handle way better due to the compound than the 255 nitto's but having a Subi that cannot be driven in the rain is kind of pointless. The reason to not run a 17x8 is because it will negatively affect handling with a 255-275 tire. I have a set of 17x9's that will share track duty with the stock 17x7.5s. I wanted two sets of track wheels in case you have an issue with one your day is not finished.
Should've made that clear in the first post, these are mostly appearance wheels. I am trying to slow myself down on the street and speed up at the track. LOL! LGT is rockin 18's as well, the 225's they are wrapped in and the way the photo was taken make them look smaller.
Bremmer Kraft somthingoranothers. That is the GF's car, she picked them out, they look very sharp on white.
L lol... I'm gonna get some Twinkies on the forester just for you Josh. Blades at that... enjoy your hateorade!
Lol not trying to hate but someone was running dubs for a little bit last year. Idk what it is but shopping for STi wheels most are at least 8.75 wide (used not new, we all know you can get just about anything you want new)
So why wouldn't you want to run a wider wheel/tire (aside from weight of course). I agree that some people are running some pretty stupid stuff, like 215's on a 9.5" wheel. I just think that there is a lot of additional wheel well that needs filling. The stock 7.5"s with 225's tuck in about an inch or two on a lowered car and give it a funny looking stance.
I think it's a good look. I have a similar set up, but unfortunately am not rockin' the 255s. When the time comes and the tires need replacing I'll be heading that route.
Mine is close right now with fender rolling and no pulling. This is my first time with a fender roller. I am either going to start to push the rears out a little or get adjustable lateral links and move everything in by about 10mm.
No hatin. Used to love Nathans Fozzy with the 19" 5 spokes. Just wondering why it is that everyone is going so wide nowadays? For autoxing, or big track stuff...i get it for the most part. But for daily driving, i've never figured out why they'd want to deal with the wheels getting cut up by the fenders rubbing. Although, most guys are running coilovers on their daily drivers too...which i would NEVER do. I'm too old for the whole "bobbleheading" ride. Like i said, herrafrush...overfrush, it's all good as long as i don't have toilet water on my floor.
car is too low over all.. the point where it will be screwing with the geometry. you're probably scraping all over the place in the rear with that offset.
This is stock suspension with RCE Yellows, has helped the handling performance of the car substantially from the stock springs (or at least perceived feel). As stated in the first post there is minimal rubbing that I should be able to take care of with a fender roller.
It looks great. Just roll the fenders all around and you should be fine with that height. My alignment is the same as yours and I'm rocking 17x9 +30 with a tall 225/45/17 sitting low in front, and I only rolled the fronts so far but rub on hard bumps with stock rear fenders with this setup pictured
Your car looks great, I think it is the low front ride height that makes the stance just right. I have to get the front lip on mine and take some pics.
