Hi all, I'm a newbie here on MNSubaru. I never knew this site existed until my brother-in-law mentioned it to me. It's nice to know that there is a bunch of Subaru gurus in town. :) Anyway, the name's Xushi

A little about me and my Subaru.

I have a bone stock 2005 Legacy GT Wagon. This is my daily and family driven car so i do not plan to do any major upgrades. I'm more of a family guy so i don't need to do anything crazy with this car. Maybe a few minor upgrades but nothing major. My experience with fixing cars is moderate. You know, the basics. Change spark plugs and wires, Oil changes, coolant flush. My diagnose skills minimum. Nothing too major. Wished I was a bit more knowledgeable but that's why I am here. :)

Prior to coming here, I was over at www.legacygt.com and that's all i knew. I had no idea there was anything local here in MN. I am here on MNSubaru in hopes of some help from Subaru Gurus instead of a Shop.

And now to the nitty gritty
I enjoy my Subaru but as of late my LGT decided to take a major break on me based on my lack of knowledge and maintenance of the Legacy's oil line. And because of that my LGT's turbo blew and out of commission. The turbo on my LGT is a VF40. Yes, it was my fault for not checking that. I had no idea.

I've done some extensive research about the problem and even took out the turbo to take a look at it. Sure enough the turbine shaft is broken and will be needing a new turbo soon. (like right now)

I've decided that instead of going for a used turbo, I'll be getting a brand new turbo from BNR EVO 16G compressor wheel/TD05H turbine wheel (max-rated at 300 WHP). Pretty much this will be a upgraded stock turbo from BNR

So now that I am about to get my turbo.... installing it, putting it back together and tuning it is the next thing I need to do. Taking the turbo off my car wasn't a problem. It's putting it back together CORRECTLY is the lack of skills that i don't have. So I'm assuming that majority of you have install turbos before. I was i was wondering, instead of taking it to the shop, would anybody out there be willing to help me install this turbo for me? I'll be willing to compensate you for your skill and time if we can work something. Let me know what you can do to help me.

    Looking forward to some responses.

    Thanks!

First, welcome to the forum! You may want to create a thread in the modifications/maintenance section.

As far as your turbo install - there are many people here who have experience (some better than others) and may be willing to help. Otherwise, you may want to contact NF, as they specialize in Subarus and are very reasonable. There are several other good local aftermarket shops as well.

With the new turbo, you will need a new tune as well - which Nuke from NF does awesome tuning work! You may also want to research supporting mods - for example: upgraded fuel pump, injectors, down pipe, etc.

Good luck on the journey, and welcome again to MNSubaru!

    Welcome to the site.

I would agree that it is best to talk to someone before you bolt that thing up and go. There are other factors that you may not have thought about. As well you will want to tune your new setup. I would also suggest PM'ing Nuke with NF Performance for some help with the tune, advice and/or install work.

STOP!!! If the turbo went from lack of oil, you had better drop the oil pan and check for metal shavings in there. You may have bigger problems. The small metal particles will get everywhere else in the engine and cause MAJOR damage. When it comes to a tune NF is your shop.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I appreciate it.

As far as installation, i wasn't able to get a hold of Nuke so i went ahead and took it to one of my buddies shop here in town.

Prior to registering this forum, i wasn't able to start a thread, post/reply to a thread or even PM so I was SOL so i went ahead and emailed Nuke instead. I still haven't heard from him yet. And since I'll be needing a tune, I'll try to send him a message through here to see if it makes a difference in response. :)

No, I'm actually still fairly new to the Twin Cities area. I've only been here a year. I bought my LGT back when I was living in Maryland.
As you can see, it's pretty bone stock

Pretty sure members of this forum now own at least 80% of the lgt wagons left in the country. Not that there's anything wrong with that... :)

PM him on here. You might have had the incorrect email address. I would assume that's you first problem since you have never spoke with him. He isn't the type of guy to not respond. In fact, you'll find his customer service goes far beyond what you would expect.

Welcome. I was going to go all the way to NC to grab a LGT myself, but my wife preferred the FXT over it. That's why I grabbed my fozz. Lol. Love the LGT though.

****in LGT Wagon Mafia up in this bitch.

    Welcome.

    False.

    From LGT,
They made 2748 limited wagons and 1344 non-limited wagons. Pretty sure we're not there yet.
However, I do wholeheartedly approve of MN further increasing our ever-growing hoard of LGT wagons.
They are, after all, the greatest car ever made.*
    *kinda. There's exceptions.

I'm not an expert, but I have done a lot of things to my car.

NF will help you out, and possibly make your car end up like mine...

My WRX now has a built motor, 6 speed, rotated PTE 6266, etc. It makes close to 600WHP.

I bought it 2.5 years ago and was planning on keeping it stock. :frantic:

Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate that.

As I mention, I am new in MN here and don't know a whole lot about it so I will be asking questions. I hope you don't mind.

Can you tell me a little bit more about your tuning experience with Subarus? The only thing I know about you is that people here say that you're the guy i needed to talk to and that's all i know.

What do you include in your tuning? What kind of support do you offer after the tune?

I heard that you guys just opened up a shop. Where abouts are you guys?

Looking to hear back from you soon

When Nuke tuned my car, he road along with his computer hooked up and had me drive different ways as he monitored things, then tweaked a few things. Then he drove a little, and played with his computer some more. Car really gained some very noticeable low end torque gains. And support after you ask? I have texted him numerous times since just asking about things I want to do to my car, and what his thoughts were. As well as asking "what is this part called? What brand should I replace it with?" Questions. Every time he has been more then helpful about answering my questions. Also arranged to meet up with me after most peoples normal "business hours" so I could purchase some tranny lube from him.

    Sure, not a problem

It was like going from stock to stage 2 all over again

But just like anything else, once you get use to it, it starts to feel slow again

Big smile for the first week or two but
