Hello everyone I do not have a Subaru at the moment, i have been wanting one for awhile but as life has it nothing goes like how you want. I am looking at WRX or STI but have kept in mind a legacy gt spec b. I am a noob so i will probably ask alot of questions, especially terminology that i am not use to. But dont worry I do a lot of research on my own it is just harder with Subarus since a lot of people ( subaru owners ) have different opinions ( try to ask which year wrx was best built as power and lack of issues ) lol. I like this forum and decided to join it due to a lot of comradery on this site. People here seem to truely enjoy the car and get along. My experience with Subaru actually was back in the 80s, my family had a gl model. I know nothing special but it was a well built car. We all abused that car, driving fast on mulholland dr, even offroading on dirt part of the road. It lasted with high abuse for 200k miles and 10 years. I was impressed! But later on became a family man ended up for the last 14 years with an SUV. But I have always liked the look of the impreza back in the 90s and watching rally races was great. I have been saving and waiting to get my own and i feel it is about time especially since i moved to Minnesota and really don't like driving in the snow. But I drove a friends WRX a few times in the snow and it was AWESOME!!!!! absolutely fun. I could have just kept that car. The dealerships should seriously get people to drive them in the winter and they would sell a ton. I was hooked even my kids were like buy it buy it. To top it was going up this steep hill that most cars were sliding backwards because they couldnt make it and i zoomed past. Dont even bring up having fun on ice, oh man. I hope to be meeting many of you soon when i have mine.
Welcome to the family! Hopefully you find the Subaru you want when you're ready, there are quite a few for sale on here. Are you shooting for a sedan to replace the SUV, or keeping the SUV and adding another car to your family collection?
Thank you both for the greeting. It will be added to the collection. I have a lifted bronco at the moment for my daily which was originally gotten for offroading fun but as soon as i bought it my expedition blew the engine so now its been my daily for a few years. I also have a fun project car 84 elko with a 383 stroker but not realistic in winter or daily or anything at moment. I am a big believer in enjoying your cars and to buy what you want when you can. I know a lot of subaru owners say the wrx doesnt get good gas mileage but as everyone can see that would be a huge improvement to the 7 to 10 mpg that i am getting now LOL.
They don't get great mileage in comparison to other models, but i got 26 mpg out of my 2.0 WRX tuned at around 240hp/280wtq. Which isn't bad in my opinion. But if you can do a coupe instead of sedan, this would be my choice! \/ http://mnsubaru.com/threads/fs-bdp-98-2-5rs-with-a-few-goodies.37770/ Price is right.
Welcome! These guys are very knowledgeable!! Before my issues I was getting 24-25mog outta my 07 wrx. The winter changed that a bit 20-22mpg.
